Torque Profile Optimization in Switched Reluctance Motor

2019 IEEE 28th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2019
This paper explores the relationship between the rotor and stator geometries with the static torque characteristics of a Switched Reluctance Machine (SRM). As case studies, symmetric quasi-rectangular grids, small circular drill holes and various rotor arcs are introduced to the rotor and stator to gauge their impact on torque profile.

Torque ripple in synchronous reluctance motor

MELECON '98. 9th Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference. Proceedings (Cat. No.98CH36056), 2002
The paper describes the calculation and reduction of torque ripple in a synchronous reluctance motor (SRM). The analysis is based on finite element modeling and proposes a method of dynamic torque characteristic calculation. The mutual connection between static and dynamic torque characteristic is also established.

Some considerations on torque ripple suppression in reluctance motors

Electrical Engineering in Japan, 1998
Although the reluctance motors are attractive from the standpoints of simple construction and drive electronics, the relatively high torque ripple and acoustic noise are the major drawbacks. These drawbacks make the motor application limited. In the paper, the torque ripple suppression of the reluctance motor under the sinusoidal current drive is ...

Torque Ripple Evaluation of High-Performance Synchronous Reluctance Machines

IEEE Industry Applications Magazine, 1995
In this article, synchronous reluctance motors with multiple-segment rotor structures are considered. The presence of stator slots is taken into account, with respect to torque ripple. An analytical model is presented, based on magnetic interaction between the d and q axes, due to stator toothing.

A five-phase reluctance motor with high specific torque

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1992
An alternative topology for a synchronous reluctance motor (SRM) is proposed utilizing a novel five-phase, concentrated winding, wye connected stator. The corresponding inverter requires only 10 transistors, each of which operates at a better switch utilization factor than a conventional three-phase, six-transistor bridge.

Unified theory of torque production in switched reluctance and synchronous reluctance motors

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1993
A method is described for calculating the average and instantaneous torque of the synchronous reluctance motor from a knowledge of the trajectory of the phase flux-linkage versus phase current [i-/spl psi/] waveform, i.e., the same method as used with the switched reluctance motor.

Torque ripple minimization of switched reluctance motor using modified torque sharing function

2013 21st Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE), 2013
Torque pulsation mechanism and highly nonlinear magnetic characterization of switched reluctance motors(SRM) lead to unfavourable torque ripple and limit the variety of applications in industry. In this paper, a modification method proposed for torque control of SRM based on conventional torque sharing functions(TSF) to improve maximum speed of torque ...

Torque ripple minimization for variable reluctance motors

Mechatronics, 1994
Abstract The design of current waveforms that minimize torque ripples in variable reluctance (VR) motors is addressed. The general problem of torque ripple reduction has been investigated by several researchers using various nonlinear models. The results have been design methods that require exhaustive measurements of motor characteristics.

Torque ripple reduction of Switched reluctance motor using improved torque sharing functions

2017 Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE), 2017
Regarding to the past decades, Switched reluctance motor usage in the industry is very limited. Non-linear magnetic function and lack of accurate analytical models are some examples of obstacles on the application development of this motor. In comparison to other motors, discrete oscillations of produced torque and working in magnetic saturation zone ...
