Reparative dentin formation resulting from cavity preparation

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1966
Abstract Thirteen different operative techniques were compared. The production of reparative dentin was evaluated with each technique and correlated with a previous study on extended or burn lesions produced by the same techniques. It was experimentally found that the Densco 300,000 r.p.m. air-water spray—No.

In Vivo Effects of Amelogenins on Reparative Dentin Formation

2010
Two low molecular weight amelogenin gene splice products (A+4 and A-4), used for pulp capping after surgical pulp exposure in the rat first maxillary molars, have been shown to induce the formation of a reparative dentinal bridge. A-4 can induce mineralization of the atubular orthodentinal type to totally fill the root pulp canal with a homogeneous ...

Osteopontin Is Essential for Type I Collagen Secretion in Reparative Dentin

Journal of Dental Research, 2016
Osteopontin (OPN) is a highly phosphorylated glycoprotein that is a prominent component of the mineralized extracellular matrix of bone. The secretion of OPN by immunocompetent cells plays a role in the differentiation of odontoblast-like cells during pulpal healing following tooth transplantation.

Transdentinal stimulation of reparative dentine formation by osteogenic protein-1 in monkeys

Archives of Oral Biology, 1995
Recombinant human osteogenic protein-1 (OP-1) when applied to freshly cut dentine stimulated significantly more reparative dentine than calcium hydroxide paste in permanent monkey teeth. The response to OP-1 was dependent upon the concentration applied to the tooth as a cavity liner as well as the thickness of the residual dentine.

Effects of various calcium phosphate biomaterials on reparative dentin bridge formation

Journal of Endodontics, 1988
This article reports on various calcium phosphate materials placed directly on the dental pulp of pig primary teeth. The following capping agents were tested, using light microscopy and microradiography of undecalcified sections: tricalcium phosphate plus magnesium, 50% tricalcium phosphate-50% hydroxylapatite, and octocalcium phosphate, with calcium ...

Immunocytochemical detection of dentine matrix protein 1 in experimentally induced reactionary and reparative dentine in rat incisors

Archives of Oral Biology, 2010
Although the general mechanisms of dentinogenesis are understood, several aspects regarding tertiary dentine formation still deserve investigation, especially regarding the presence and distribution of some noncollagenous matrix proteins. As dentine matrix protein 1 (DMP 1) is present in primary dentine, it is possible that this protein may also be ...

Reactionary and Reparative Dentin-Like Structures

2014
Reactionary dentin-like is produced by odontoblasts and Hoehl’s cell after a carious decay, beneath a calciotraumatic line. Five SIBLINGs have been identified, together with the metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), whereas SMAD-2 and SMAD-4 are implicated in the synthesis of collagen.

The rate of reparative dentine formation in transplanted mouse molar teeth

Archives of Oral Biology, 1976
Abstract Similar rates of reparative dentine matrix formation were observed during the formation of cellular dentine, irregular and regular secondary dentine during repair of transplanted teeth. Primary dentinogenesis in molar teeth in situ occurred at a similar rate.

Transmission Electron Microscopy of Reparative Dentin in Rat Molar Pulps

Cells Tissues Organs, 1981
A reparative dentin bridge was induced in rat molar teeth by pulp exposure and capping with calcium hydroxide. Transmission electron-microscopic examination after 10 days revealed the presence of odontoblastic cells and collagenous matrix with focal calcifications. The calcifying fronts were composed of hydroxyapatite crystals.

Reparative dentin: factors affecting its deposition.

Quintessence international (Berlin, Germany : 1985), 1992
Results of this study showed no correlation between the thickness or amount of reparative dentin deposited and the type of dental restorative material placed at either 5 or 8 weeks in controlled Class V cavity preparations in monkey teeth. Factors such as preparation trauma from the bur, operator hand instrumentation, and microleakage of bacterial ...
