Optimal replacement policy and approximate replacement rules

open access: yesApplied Economics, 1979
An iterative procedure for calculating the optimal replacement age of capital equipment under certain assumptions about future costs is presented and shown to be a practicable method of determining replacement policy. This procedure is compared empirically with three approximate replacement rules, the Terborgh rule and two payoff period rules.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

IMU: A Content Replacement Policy for CCN, Based on Immature Content Selection

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
In-network caching is the essential part of Content-Centric Networking (CCN). The main aim of a CCN caching module is data distribution within the network. Each CCN node can cache content according to its placement policy. Therefore, it is fully equipped

Sequential Nonparametric Age Replacement Policies

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1985
Consider an age replacement policy, by which a stochastically failing unit is replaced at failure or after being in service for t units of time, whichever comes first. The problem is to estimate sequentially the optimal replacement time \(\phi^*\) which minimizes the expected long-run average cost.
