ERBIN limits epithelial cell plasticity via suppression of TGF‐β signaling
In breast and lung cancer patients, low ERBIN expression correlates with poor clinical outcomes. Here, we show that ERBIN inhibits TGF‐β‐induced epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in NMuMG breast and A549 lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. ERBIN suppresses TGF‐β/SMAD signaling and reduces TGF‐β‐induced ERK phosphorylation.

Mendelian randomization study shows a causal effect of asthma on epilepsy risk
ObjectiveThe relationship between asthma and epilepsy in observational studies is controversial. The purpose of this Mendelian randomization (MR) study is to investigate whether asthma causally contributes to epilepsy susceptibility.MethodsIndependent ...

The yeast mitoribosome assembly factor Rsm22 contains a [4Fe‐4S] cluster that is matured by the mitochondrial iron–sulfur cluster assembly (ISC) machinery. Defects in ISC components result in impaired mitochondrial protein synthesis due to a mitoribosome assembly defect.

Revisiting the Replication Crisis and the Untrustworthiness of Empirical Evidence
The current replication crisis relating to the non-replicability and the untrustworthiness of published empirical evidence is often viewed through the lens of the Positive Predictive Value (PPV) in the context of the Medical Diagnostic Screening (MDS ...

Continuous testing for Poisson process intensities: A new perspective on scanning statistics
We propose a novel continuous testing framework to test the intensities of Poisson Processes. This framework allows a rigorous definition of the complete testing procedure, from an infinite number of hypothesis to joint error rates.

ViralPlaque: a Fiji macro for automated assessment of viral plaque statistics
Plaque assay has been used for a long time to determine infectious titers and characterize prokaryotic and eukaryotic viruses forming plaques. Indeed, plaque morphology and dimensions can provide information regarding the replication kinetics and the ...

The Arabidopsis mutants hls1 hlh1 and amp1 lamp1 exhibit pleiotropic developmental phenotypes. Although the functions of the causative genes remain unclear, they act in the same genetic pathway and are thought to generate non‐cell‐autonomous signals.

Kinetic model of DNA replication in eukaryotic organisms
We formulate a kinetic model of DNA replication that quantitatively describes recent results on DNA replication in the in vitro system of Xenopus laevis prior to the mid-blastula transition.

Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

Functional data analysis (FDA) involves the analysis of data whose ideal units of observation are functions defined on some continuous domain, and the observed data consist of a sample of functions taken from some population, sampled on a discrete grid ...
