Genome-wide association study of electrocardiographic and heart rate variability traits: the Framingham Heart Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
BACKGROUND: Heritable electrocardiographic (ECG) and heart rate variability (HRV) measures, reflecting pacemaking, conduction, repolarization and autonomic function in the heart have been associated with risks for cardiac arrhythmias.

Multimodal Actuation and Environment Adaptive Strategies of Bio‐Inspired Micro/Nanorobots in Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
An introduction for multidrive and environment‐adaptive micro/nanorobotics: design and fabrication strategies, intelligent actuation, and their applications. Various intelligent actuation approaches—magnetic, acoustic, optical, chemical, and biological—can be synergistically designed to enhance flexibility and adaptive behavior for precision medicine ...

Andersen-Tawil Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Andersen-Tawil syndrome (ATS) is a rare condition consisting of ventricular arrhythmias, periodic paralysis, and dysmorphic features. In 2001, mutations in KCNJ2, which encodes the α subunit of the potassium channel Kir2.1, were identified in patients ...

Potentiating Cerebral Perfusion Normalizes Glymphatic Dynamics in Systemic Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LPS‐induced systemic inflammation increases glymphatic influx but delays cervical lymphatic drainage, accompanied by AQP4 depolarization and impaired glymphatic clearance. Enhancing cerebral blood flow via the inotropic agent levosimendan effectively restored AQP4 polarization, improving glymphatic flux and amyloid‐β clearance.

Acetylcholine Reduces IKr and Prolongs Action Potentials in Human Ventricular Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2022
Vagal nerve stimulation (VNS) has a meaningful basis as a potentially effective treatment for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. There is an ongoing VNS randomized study, and four studies are completed.

Methods of Assessment and Clinical Relevance of QT Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The dependence on heart rate of the QT interval has been investigated for many years and several mathematical formulae have been proposed to describe the QT interval/heart rate (or QT interval/RR interval) relationship. While the most popular is Bazett’s

Nanographene Oxide Attenuates Acute GVHD by Modulating Macrophage Polarization in a Xenogeneic Mouse Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanographene oxide (NGO) attenuates graft‐versus‐host disease (GVHD) severity by inhibiting STAT1‐mediated M1 macrophage polarization and suppressing T‐cell activation. NGO‐primed macrophages (NGO‐Mac) further enhance regulatory T‐cell induction via IL‐10. Both NGO and NGO‐Mac therapies mitigate inflammation and immune pathology, offering cell‐free and

Electrocardiographic Strain Pattern Is Associated With Left Ventricular Concentric Remodeling, Scar, and Mortality Over 10 Years: The Multi‐Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2017
BackgroundBoth ECG strain pattern and QRS measured left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy criteria are associated with LV hypertrophy and have been used for risk stratification.

Depolarization and repolarization dynamics after His‐bundle pacing: Comparison with right ventricular pacing and native ventricular conduction

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, 2022
Background The current study aimed to evaluate changes in electrical depolarization and repolarization parameters after His‐bundle pacing (HBP) compared with right ventricular pacing (RVP) and its association with ventricular arrhythmia (VA).

Interactions between Activation and Repolarization Restitution Properties in the Intact Human Heart: In-Vivo Whole-Heart Data and Mathematical Description

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Background The restitution of the action potential duration (APDR) and conduction velocity (CVR) are mechanisms whereby cardiac excitation and repolarization adapt to changes in heart rate. They modulate the vulnerability to dangerous arrhythmia, but the
