Study on the use of metadata for digital learning objects in university institutional repositories (MODERI) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Metadata is a core issue for the creation of repositories. Different institutional repositories have chosen and use different metadata models, elements and values for describing the range of digital objects they store.

Optimizing RNA quality in cryopreserved tissues without preservatives: impact of preservatives, thawing methods and tissue aliquot sizes

open access: yesBMC Biotechnology
Background RNA degradation during freeze‒thaw cycles in cryopreserved tissues is a major challenge for biomedical research, particularly when tissues are stored without preservatives.

Analysis of the Interaction Network of Hub miRNAs-Hub Genes, Being Involved in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibers and Its Emerging Role in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2020
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a fibrotic interstitial lung disease with lesions confined to the lungs. To identify meaningful microRNA (miRNA) and gene modules related to the IPF progression, GSE32537 (RNA-sequencing data) and GSE32538 (miRNA ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

A different perspective in building tools to collect and share educational resources

open access: yesJe-LKS: Journal of E-Learning and Knowledge Society, 2015
Until now, a large amount of effort has been spent on structuring educational repositories. Standard metadata for learning objects have been provided and large databases have been deployed both from academia, and private organizations following mainly a ...
