Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Comparison Between Radiographic Vertebral Left Atrial Size (VLAS) and Echocardiographic Methods for Predicting Left Atrial Remodeling in Dogs With Mitral Valve Disease

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine International
Conclusions and Clinics Relevance: VLAS has a positive relationship and important correlation with the echocardiographic variables and MINE score. Associated with its higher accessibility in clinical routine is a potential diagnostic method to detect ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Parvovirus B19 Infection in Pregnancy—Course of the Disease, Fetal Complications and Management Tools: A Case Series and Literature Review

open access: yesChildren
Parvovirus B19 is a virus that causes a common and usually harmless infection in both children and adults. If the virus is transmitted transplacentally during pregnancy, it can have serious consequences for both the pregnant woman and the fetus ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Optimized heterologous in vitro fertilization with Iberian ibex sperm and domestic goat oocytes

open access: yesTheriogenology Wild
Assisted reproductive technologies are key to maintain genetic stocks of endangered wild species, such as the Iberian ibex (Capra pyrenaica). Due to the low availability of ibex ovaries, heterologous in vitro fertilization (IVF) with domestic goat (Capra

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Influenza and non-influenza ARVI in children. A relationship between cytokine profile, parameters of the “lipid peroxidation – antioxidant defense system” as well as clinical and laboratory indicators

open access: yesИнфекция и иммунитет
Influenza and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) impose a substantial damage to the population health in the Russian Federation due to their seasonal circulation and predominantly affect young children. A very few data on the cytokine profile, the
