NAPRT loss promotes lung tumor initiation and growth through AKT signaling independently of NAD+ biosynthesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of NAPRT promotes lung tumor initiation and growth through a noncanonical mechanism, independent of its role in NAD+ biosynthesis. Mechanistically, NAPRT depletion activates the mTORC2‐driven AKT/β‐catenin signaling axis to enhance clonogenic and invasive phenotypes. Furthermore, lung‐specific Naprt deletion significantly increases tumor burden in

Pregnancy and lactation induce distinct immune responses to COVID-19 booster vaccination and SARS-CoV-2 breakthrough infection

open access: yesJCI Insight
The widespread uptake of COVID-19 vaccines by women provided a unique opportunity to study the effects of pregnancy and lactation on immune responses to vaccination.

The Role of the Gut Microbiota in Female Reproductive and Gynecological Health: Insights into Endometrial Signaling Pathways

open access: yesLife
Fertility is a dynamic, multifactorial process governed by hormonal, immune, metabolic, and environmental factors. Recent evidence highlights the gut microbiota as a key systemic regulator of reproductive health, with notable impacts on endometrial ...

Extracellular matrix remodeling and immune reprogramming drive residual tumor progression of liver cancer after incomplete microwave ablation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Incomplete microwave ablation (iMWA) of liver cancer triggers a biphasic progression in residual tumors. At Day 3, the microenvironment is characterized by acute inflammatory responses and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. By Day 14, a profound shift occurs toward oncogenic signal transduction and immunosuppression, marked by macrophage ...

IL-27/Blimp-1 axis regulates the differentiation and function of Tim-3+ Tregs during early pregnancy

open access: yesJCI Insight
Decidual regulatory T cells (Tregs) are essential for successful pregnancy outcome. A subset of Tregs, T cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-containing protein 3–positive regulatory T cells (TregsTim-3+), plays a central role in the acceptance of the ...

Type I interferon exposure of an implantation-on-a-chip device alters invasive extravillous trophoblast function

open access: yesCell Reports Medicine
Summary: Inappropriate type I interferon (IFN) signaling during embryo implantation and placentation is linked to poor pregnancy outcomes. Here, we evaluate the consequence of elevated type I IFN exposure on implantation using a human implantation in an ...

Treatment with KCL‐286, a first‐in‐class retinoic acid receptor‐β (RARβ) agonist, ameliorates neuronal DNA damage and inflammation in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Repair of neuronal DNA damage in Alzheimer's disease by KCL‐286. (A) Amyloid‐β oligomers and plaques impair neuronal DNA repair pathways, leading to DNA double‐strand breaks and glial activation. (B) KCL‐286 activates RARβ/RXR signalling via retinoic acid response elements (RAREs), associated with increased BRCA1 expression, enhanced DNA repair and ...

Development of a humanized mouse model with functional human materno-fetal interface immunity

open access: yesJCI Insight
Materno-fetal immunity possesses specialized characteristics to ensure pathogen clearance while maintaining tolerance to the semiallogeneic fetus. Most of our understanding on human materno-fetal immunity is based on conventional rodent models that may ...

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.
