YOLO v4 Based Algorithm for Resident Space Object Detection and Tracking

open access: yes, 2023
Resident Space Objects (RSOs) detection and tracking are relevant challenges in the framework of Space Situational Awareness (SSA). The growing number of active and inactive platforms and the incoming era of mega constellations is increasing the traffic ...

Resident Space Object Classification from Light Curves with Deep Learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
In this study, a novel data-driven pipeline is suggested for classifying resident space objects (RSO) from photometric light curve data. The latter was extracted from the MiniMega-TORTORA (MMT) monitoring system.

Resident Space Object (RSO) Tracking in Space-Based, Low Resolution, Non-Constant-Attitude Imagery

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Resident Space Objects (RSOs) are a collection of both man-made and natural objects in near-Earth space. Given their large orbital velocities and rapidly increasing quantity, they pose a collision threat to space assets, necessitating better Space ...

Object-centric Reconstruction and Tracking of Dynamic Unknown Objects Using 3D Gaussian Splatting [PDF]

open access: yes
peer reviewedGeneralizable perception is one of the pillars of high-level autonomy in space robotics. Estimating the structure and motion of unknown objects in dynamic environments is fundamental for such autonomous systems.

Prediction and Image Formation for Serendipitous Resident Space Object Underflights of Landsat 8

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Non-Earth imaging (NEI) of resident space objects (RSO) has become more readily available recently due to an expanding commercial sector focusing specifically on the NEI task, as well as high spatial resolution Earth imaging systems being agile enough to

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

The Resident Space Object Detection Method Based on the Connection between the Fourier Domain Image of the Video Data Difference Frame and the Orbital Velocity Projection

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences
A method for resident space object detection in video stream processing using a set of matched filters has been proposed. Matched filters are constructed based on the connection between the Fourier spectrum shape of the difference frame and the ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
