The MSS control point location error filter for LANDSAT-D [PDF]

open access: yes
The filter produces the maximum likelihood estimates for average values of the spacecraft position and attitude errors during a single scene. The quality of the filter performance is characterized by the maximal cross and along track residual errors for ...

Gravitational lensing as a contaminant of the gravity wave signal in CMB

open access: yes, 2003
Gravity waves (GW) in the early universe generate B-type polarization in the cosmic microwave background (CMB), which can be used as a direct way to measure the energy scale of inflation. Gravitational lensing contaminates the GW signal by converting the

Fluctuations in method‐of‐moments variograms caused by clustered sampling and their elimination by declustering and residual maximum likelihood estimation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Soil Science, 2013
Summary Soil data accumulated in national and regional archives derive from many sources and tend to be concentrated in zones of particular interest. Experimental variograms computed from such data by the usual method of moments can appear highly erratic, and therefore models fitted to them are likely to be ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

UTILIZAÇÃO DE DIFERENTES ESTRUTURAS DE VARIÂNCIA RESIDUAL EM MODELOS DE REGRESSÃO ALEATÓRIA PARA DESCRIÇÃO DA CURVA DE CRESCIMENTO DE PERDIZES (Rhynchotus rufescens) CRIADAS EM CATIVEIRO

open access: yesRevista Caatinga, 2008
Random regression models (RRM) allows considering heterogeneous residual variances to describe the growth for each age. However, this feature increases the number of parameters to be estimated in the maximization likelihood function process.

Modeling methylene blue removal using magnetic chitosan carboxymethyl cellulose multiwalled carbon nanotube composite with genetic algorithms and regression techniques

open access: yesScientific Reports
The purpose of this study was to model and optimize the removal of methylene blue using a novel magnetic chitosan-carboxymethyl cellulose/multiwalled carbon nanotubes and to identify the most significant parameters influencing the adsorption efficiency ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Relic gravitational waves in the light of 7-year Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe data and improved prospects for the Planck mission

open access: yes, 2010
The new release of data from Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe improves the observational status of relic gravitational waves. The 7-year results enhance the indications of relic gravitational waves in the existing data and change to the better the ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

A Two-Parameter Weighted Rama Distribution with Properties and Application

open access: yesUniversal Journal of Mathematics and Applications, 2019
In this paper, a two-parameter weighted Rama distribution which includes one parameter Rama distribution introduced by Shanker [1] has been proposed for modelling real lifetime data.
