Exponentiated Extended Weibull-Power Series Class of Distributions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we introduce a new class of distributions by compounding the exponentiated extended Weibull family and power series family. This distribution contains several lifetime models such as the complementary extended Weibull-power series ...

Robust estimation of the variogram by residual maximum likelihood

open access: yesGeoderma, 2007
For spatial prediction of soil variables where the local mean can be expressed as a local trend, or a linear function of some auxiliary (external drift) variable, the state-of-the-art is to estimate the spatial covariance parameters of the residual variation by residual maximum likelihood (REML).

Half-Logistic Xgamma Distribution: Properties and Estimation under Censored Samples

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2020
This paper proposed a new probability distribution, namely, the half-logistic xgamma (HLXG) distribution. Various statistical properties, such as, moments, incomplete moments, mean residual life, and stochastic ordering of the proposed distribution, are ...

Confidence sets for network structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Latent variable models are frequently used to identify structure in dichotomous network data, in part because they give rise to a Bernoulli product likelihood that is both well understood and consistent with the notion of exchangeable random graphs.

An Exponentiated Skew-Elliptic Nonlinear Extension to the Log–Linear Birnbaum–Saunders Model with Diagnostic and Residual Analysis

open access: yesAxioms, 2023
In this paper, we propose a nonlinear regression model with exponentiated skew-elliptical errors distributed, which can be fitted to datasets with high levels of asymmetry and kurtosis.

Maximum empirical likelihood estimation and related topics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This article develops a theory of maximum empirical likelihood estimation and empirical likelihood ratio testing with irregular and estimated constraint functions that parallels the theory for parametric models and is tailored for semiparametric models ...

The Exponentiated Lindley Geometric Distribution with Applications

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
We introduce a new three-parameter lifetime distribution, the exponentiated Lindley geometric distribution, which exhibits increasing, decreasing, unimodal, and bathtub shaped hazard rates.

Modeling residue usage in aligned protein sequences via maximum likelihood [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Biology and Evolution, 1996
A computational method is presented for characterizing residue usage, i.e., site-specific residue frequencies, in aligned protein sequences. The method obtains frequency estimates that maximize the likelihood of the sequences in a simple model for sequence evolution, given a tree or a set of candidate trees computed by other methods.

Bivariate power Lomax distribution with medical applications.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
In this paper, a bivariate power Lomax distribution based on Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern (FGM) copulas and univariate power Lomax distribution is proposed, which is referred to as BFGMPLx.

Maximum likelihood and pseudo score approaches for parametric time-to-event analysis with informative entry times [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We develop a maximum likelihood estimating approach for time-to-event Weibull regression models with outcome-dependent sampling, where sampling of subjects is dependent on the residual fraction of the time left to developing the event of interest ...
