On the Extension of the Burr XII Distribution: Applications and Regression
In this paper, we introduce a new four-parameter mixture distribution called the Harmonic Mixture Burr XII distribution. The proposed model can be used to model data which exhibit bimodal shapes or are heavy-tailed.

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

The Half-Logistic Lomax Distribution for Lifetime Modeling
We introduce a new two-parameter lifetime distribution called the half-logistic Lomax (HLL) distribution. The proposed distribution is obtained by compounding half-logistic and Lomax distributions.

Discrete Exponentiated Generalized Family of Distributions
In this paper, exponentiated-G family of distributions is constructed as a new family of discrete distribution, using the general approach of discretization of a continuous distribution. Some statistical properties including quantiles, mean residual life,

Bayesian and residual maximum likelihood statistical gene mapping
Abstract Residual Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian methods for statistical gene mapping in livestock were derived and applied to simulated half‐sib designs. REML was robust to the number of QTL alleles, and Bayesian analysis permitted to fit different QTL models. Single QTLs explaining at least 12.5% of additive genetic variance were detected with power

Optimization of a Nucleic Acids united-RESidue 2-Point model (NARES-2P) with a maximum-likelihood approach [PDF]
Coarse-grained models are useful tools to investigate the structural and thermodynamic properties of biomolecules. They are obtained by merging several atoms into one interaction site. Such simplified models try to capture as much as possible information of the original biomolecular system in all-atom representation but the resulting parameters of ...

ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

We propose a new model with flexible failure rate called complementary Poisson generalized half logistic (CPGHL). Various properties of the model are explored and examine numerically such as the explicit expressions of the moments, mean deviations ...

Multibreed genomic prediction using multitrait genomic residual maximum likelihood and multitask Bayesian variable selection [PDF]
Genomic prediction is applicable to individuals of different breeds. Empirical results to date, however, show limited benefits in using information on multiple breeds in the context of genomic prediction. We investigated a multitask Bayesian model, presented previously by others, implemented in a Bayesian stochastic search variable selection (BSSVS ...
