Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Method for estimating crack-extension resistance curve from residual strength data [PDF]

open access: yes
A method is presented for estimating the crack extension resistance curve (R curve) from residual strength (maximum load against initial crack length) data for precracked fracture specimens.

Electromagnetic Modes in Deformed Nuclei [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A strength function method is adopted to describe a coupling between electric and magnetic modes of different multipolarity. The collective vibrations are analysed for a separable residual interaction in the framework of the random-phase approximation ...

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Fatigue response of notched laminates subjected to tension-compression cyclic loads [PDF]

open access: yes
The fatigue response of a ((0/45/90/-45)(sub s))(sub 4) T300-5208 graphite-epoxy laminate with a drilled center-hole subjected to various components of tensile and compressive cyclic loads was investigated.

Core crush criterion to determine the strength of sandwich composite structures subjected to compression after impact [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this study a core crush criterion is proposed to determine the residual strength of impacted sandwich structures. The core of the sandwich is made of a Nomex Honeycomb core and the faces are laminated and remain thin.

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Thermal studies on recycled aggregate concrete modified with carbonated and bio-deposited recycled aggregates

open access: yesEngineering and Applied Science Research, 2023
Several research studies have been conducted to investigate the hardened and durability characteristics of the normal aggregate concrete (NAC) and recycled aggregate concrete (RAC).

Effect of interlamellar spacing on the elastoplastic behavior of C70 pearlitic steel: Experimental results and self-consistent modeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The effect of pearlite microstructure characteristics on strength and deformation of C70 pearlitic steel was investigated. Tensile tests under X-ray diffraction coupled with self-consistent model have been used to identify the role of interlamellar ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.
