Histological transformation into pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma from lung adenosquamous carcinoma after radical resection of EGFR gene Exon-21 L858R mutation: a case report and literature review

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
Pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma (PSC) is frequently underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed due to its rarity and complex histological features. To date, no universally recommended treatment regimens have been established for this rare subtype, and clinical ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

The Rise in Carbapenem-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii and the Emergence of Eravacycline as a Treatment Strategy: A Narrative Review

open access: yesPathogens
Acinetobacter baumannii is a significant pathogen of hospital-acquired infections, and its multidrug resistance (MDR) and extended drug resistance (XDR) have become increasingly severe, posing a global public health challenge.

Understanding the Mechanisms of Resistance to CAR T-Cell Therapy in Malignancies

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2019
Taking advantage of the immune system to exert an antitumor effect is currently a novel approach in cancer therapy. Adoptive transfer of T cells engineered to express chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) targeting a desired antigen has shown extraordinary ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Induction of resistance to neurotrophic tropomyosin‐receptor kinase inhibitors by HMGCS2 via a mevalonate pathway

open access: yesCancer Medicine
Introduction A neurotrophic tropomyosin receptor kinase (NTRK)‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) has shown dramatic efficacy against malignant tumors harboring an NTRK fusion gene.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Molecular profiling of PYL gene family in sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) and BvPYL2/3 involved in ABA accumulation confers enhanced resistance to CLS (Cercospora Leaf Spot)

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Cercospora leaf spot (CLS), caused by Cercospora beticola, is a major threat to sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) production globally. While abscisic acid (ABA) signaling mediates plant defense responses, the specific roles of ABA receptors (PYR/PYL/RCAR) in

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
