Self-supervised MRI denoising: leveraging Stein’s unbiased risk estimator and spatially resolved noise maps

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Thermal noise caused by the imaged object is an intrinsic limitation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), resulting in an impaired clinical value of the acquisitions.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

LISA improves statistical analysis for fMRI

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is a powerful technique for measuring human brain activity, but the statistical analysis of fMRI data can be difficult.

Impaired Intestinal Akkermansia muciniphila and Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor Ligands Contribute to Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in Mice

open access: yesmSystems, 2021
Noncaloric artificial sweeteners (NAS) are extensively introduced into commonly consumed drinks and foods worldwide. However, data on the health effects of NAS consumption remain elusive.

Strong interference effects in the resonant Auger decay of atoms induced by intense X-Ray fields

open access: yes, 2010
The theory of resonant Auger decay of atoms in a high intensity coherent X-ray pulse is presented. The theory includes the coupling between the ground state and the resonance due to an intense X-ray pulse, taking into account the decay of the resonance ...

Sustained resonance: a binary system perturbed by gravitational radiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The general phenomena associated with sustained resonance are studied in this paper in connection with relativistic binary pulsars. We represent such a system by two point masses in a Keplerian binary system that evolves via gravitational radiation ...

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Lifetime of molecule-atom mixtures near a Feshbach resonance in 40K

open access: yes, 2003
We report a dramatic magnetic field dependence in the lifetime of trapped, ultracold diatomic molecules created through an s-wave Feshbach resonance in 40K.

Linear Systems Analysis of Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Human V1

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience, 1996
The linear transform model of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) hypothesizes that fMRI responses are proportional to local average neural activity averaged over a period of time.
