Formation of phase lags at the cyclotron energies in the pulse profiles of magnetized, accreting neutron stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Context: Accretion-powered X-ray pulsars show highly energy-dependent and complex pulse-profile morphologies. Significant deviations from the average pulse profile can appear, in particular close to the cyclotron line energies.

Hydrodynamic behavior of resonant chamber of an oscillating column of water for Pacific Ocean conditions

open access: yesRevista Facultad de Ingeniería Universidad de Antioquia, 2023
Wave energy converters (WEC) may be a promising option for extracting the energy available in the sea and oceans in a clean way. The oscillating water column (OWC) is one of the most applicable and well-known WEC systems.

Photon-Assisted Quasiparticle Transport and Andreev Transport through an Interacting Quantum Dot

open access: yes, 1999
Resonant tunneling through a quantum dot coupled to superconducting reservoirs in the presence of time-dependent external voltage has been studied. A general formula of the current is derived based on the nonequilibrium Green's function technique.

Nucleon resonance contributions to unpolarised inclusive electron scattering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The first CLAS12 experiments will provide high-precision data on inclusive electron scattering observables at a photon virtuality $Q^2$ ranging from 0.05 GeV$^2$ to 12 GeV$^2$ and center-of-mass energies $W$ up to 4 GeV.

Radio-frequency impedance measurements using a tunnel-diode oscillator (TDO) technique

open access: yes, 1999
A resonant method based on a tunnel-diode oscillator (TDO) for precision measurements of relative impedance changes in materials, is described. The system consists of an effective self-resonant LC-tank circuit driven by a forward-biased tunnel diode ...

A Green's function approach to transmission of massless Dirac fermions in graphene through an array of random scatterers

open access: yes, 2012
We consider the transmission of massless Dirac fermions through an array of short range scatterers which are modeled as randomly positioned $\delta$- function like potentials along the x-axis.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Experimental Study on Damping Ratio Characteristics of Loose Silty Fine Sand at Different Saturations [PDF]

open access: yes长江科学院院报
[Objective] Current research on the damping ratio evolution of silty fine sand under varying saturation conditions remains relatively limited, and in particular, systematic investigations revealing the mechanisms by which saturation variations influence ...

A unified framework for the orbital structure of bars and triaxial ellipsoids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We examine a large random sample of orbits in two self-consistent simulations of N-body bars. Orbits in these bars are classified both visually and with a new automated orbit classification method based on frequency analysis.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
