Recent Developments in the Application of Filamentous Fungus Aspergillus oryzae in Ruminant Feed

open access: yesAnimals
The resource-intensive nature of the ruminant farming sector, which has been exacerbated by population growth and increasing pressure to reduce feed antibiotics and growth promoters, has sparked interest in looking for sustainable alternative feed ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Multilayer biocomposite vegan leather materials derived from vegetable-tanned fungal biomass cultivated on food waste

open access: yesScientific Reports
Despite being considered a premium material, leather poses both environmental and ethical issues. Thus, sustainable alternatives such as vegan leather are in high demand. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to produce vegan leather using vegetable tannins

All-Polyamide Composite Coated-Fabric as an Alternative Material of Construction for Textile-Bioreactors (TBRs)

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
All-polyamide composite coated-fabric (APCCF) was used as an alternative material for the construction of textile-bioreactors (TBRs), which are prepared as a replacement of the traditional stainless steel bioreactors (SSBRs) or concrete-based bioreactors.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Growth and protein content of Cupriavidus necator on organic acids derived from fermented grey starch

open access: yesApplied Microbiology and Biotechnology
Grey starch (GS) is a byproduct of potato processing and is conventionally valorised as low-grade animal feed or for biogas generation. In this manuscript, we systematically investigate the mixed culture fermentation of GS to organic acids and their ...

Waste quantification and carbon footprint of street market food waste in Brazil

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture
Estimates suggest that a substantial volume of food intended for human consumption is lost or wasted globally, underlining the importance of reducing food waste to address environmental concerns.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.
