Recombinant simian varicella viruses expressing respiratory syncytial virus antigens are immunogenic

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2008
Recombinant simian varicella viruses (rSVVs) were engineered to express respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) antigens. The RSV surface glycoprotein G and second matrix protein M2 (22k) genes were cloned into the SVV genome, and recombinant viruses were characterized in vitro and in vivo.

Impact of Rapid Exome Sequencing on Pediatric Patients With Cardiomyopathy and Acute Heart Failure

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Few studies describe the impact of rapid exome sequencing (ES) on pediatric cardiomyopathy in urgent clinical settings. Here, we retrospectively report the impact of rapid singleton ES in pediatric patients presented with acute heart failure and isolated cardiomyopathy or myocarditis, between 2021 and 2023 at a single tertiary care center.

Viral etiology in infants hospitalized for acute bronchiolitis

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 2014
Acute bronchiolitis is predominantly a viral disease. Respiratory syncytial virus is the most common agent, but other newly identified viruses have also been considered as causes.

Postpandemic immunity debt of common cold in England: an interrupted time series study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Infectious Diseases
This study investigates immunity debt in five common cold viruses (adenovirus, parainfluenza virus, human metapneumovirus, rhinovirus, and respiratory syncytial virus) in England using weekly positivity rate data from UKHSA.

The epidemiology and severity of respiratory viral infections in a tropical country: Ecuador, 2009–2016

open access: yesJournal of Infection and Public Health, 2019
Background: Respiratory viral infections (RVI) are a leading cause of mortality worldwide. We compared the epidemiology and severity of RVI in Ecuador during 2009–2016. Methods: Respiratory specimens collected within the national surveillance system were

Effects of Nonpharmaceutical COVID-19 Interventions on Pediatric Hospitalizations for Other Respiratory Virus Infections, Hong Kong

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2022
To determine the effects of nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) for coronavirus disease on pediatric hospitalizations for infection with respiratory viruses other than severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, we analyzed hospital data for ...

[Subtypes of respiratory syncytial viruses].

open access: yesLijecnicki vjesnik, 1999
Antigenically the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is of two types: A and B. Five structural proteins express virus type differences. Antigenic and genetic differences among individual strains of the same virus type are classed accordingly by monoclonal antibody reactivity into antigenic subtypes; for nucleotide sequence and restriction maps of ...

Pharmacokinetics of dolutegravir, tenofovir and lamivudine during venous–venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV‐ECMO): A case report

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
While providing potentially life‐saving cardiorespiratory support for critically ill patients, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) may detrimentally affect pharmacokinetic (PK) performance and concurrent drug efficacy and safety. We describe a patient with Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP) in the context of acquired immunodeficiency ...

Early clinical pharmacology evaluation of the novel anti‐inflammatory macrolide, glasmacinal (EP395): tolerability, pharmacokinetics and drug interactions

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims This work assessed the pharmacokinetics (PK), safety and tolerability of glasmacinal (EP395, an oral anti‐inflammatory macrolide with negligible antimicrobial activity in development for COPD treatment) in two healthy participant trials: ‘first‐in‐human’ (FIH) and ‘drug–drug‐interaction’ (DDI).

RSV infection and recurrence of respiratory tract obstruction in children

open access: yesPediatria i Medycyna Rodzinna, 2016
Viruses, including the respiratory syncytial virus, are the most common aetiological factor of respiratory infections in children. The disease most often occurs between November and April in the northern climate zone, with a peak incidence in January ...
