Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Ethanol: response and mechanisms in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this project is to identify behavioural phenotypes associated with ethanol in C. elegans and potential molecular targets for ethanol that underpin an ethanol response. This will be achieved through a multi-lateral approach using bioinformatics,

Strength Reduction Factor of Steel Frames with Stainless-Steel Braces

open access: yesBuildings
Previous studies on the strength reduction factor (SRF) have primarily focused on structures without braces or with traditional mild steel braces. However, due to the corrosion damage affecting braces, the existing research cannot guide the application ...

Angiopoietin-4 Inhibits Angiogenesis and Reduces Interstitial Fluid Pressure

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research, 2006
Angiopoietins (Ang) are involved in the remodeling, maturation, and stabilization of the vascular network. Ang-4 was discovered more recently; thus, its effect on angiogenesis and its interplay with other angiogenic factors have not been equivocally ...

Response Reduction Factor for SMRF 3D Frame Buildings on Sloppy Ground

open access: yesInternational Journal of Innovative Technology and Exploring Engineering, 2020
Lateral forces are key factors in the design of building structure and in general these forces are evaluated using linear static method with the incorporation of response reduction factor. The actual intensity of lateral force is minimized by response reduction factor. However IS Code 1893:2016 does not give information about the components of response

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Boundary condition effect on response modification factor of X-braced steel frames

open access: yesHBRC Journal, 2018
Design of the structures to resist seismic force depends on the theory of dissipation in elastic energy that already exists in response modification factor “R-factor”.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
