Hepatic response criteria in light chain amyloidosis: a multicenter validation study

open access: yesHaematologica
Liver involvement in light chain amyloidosis (AL) is seen in 10-20% of patients and is associated with poor prognosis. The goal of this study was to assess the prognostic impact of the hepatic response criteria.

An Improved Multidimensional MPA Procedure for Bidirectional Earthquake Excitations

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
Presently, the modal pushover analysis procedure is extended to multidimensional analysis of structures subjected to multidimensional earthquake excitations. an improved multidimensional modal pushover analysis (IMMPA) method is presented in the paper in

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Influence of oxidative stress, diaphragm fatigue and inspiratory muscle training on the plasma cytokine response to maximum sustainable voluntary ventilation

open access: yes, 2014
The influence of oxidative stress, diaphragm fatigue and inspiratory muscle training (IMT) on the cytokine response to maximum sustainable voluntary ventilation (MSVV) is unknown.

Locally up-regulated lymphotoxin a, not systemic tumor necrosis factor a, is the principle mediator of murine cerebral malaria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Cerebral malaria (CM) causes death in children and nonimmune adults. TNF-{alpha} has been thought to play a key role in the development of CM. In contrast, the role of the related cyto-kine lymphotoxin {alpha} (LT{alpha}) in CM has been overlooked.

A Simple Response Evaluation Method for Base-Isolation Building-Connection Hybrid Structural System under Long-Period and Long-Duration Ground Motion

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2018
An innovative hybrid control building system of base-isolation and building-connection has been proposed in the previous study. This system has two advantages, (i) to resist an impulsive earthquake input through the base-isolation system and (ii) to ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Energy Dissipation and Local, Story, and Global Ductility Reduction Factors in Steel Frames under Vibrations Produced by Earthquakes

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2018
Ductility plays a central role in seismic analysis and design of steel buildings. A numerical investigation regarding the evaluation of energy dissipation, ductility, and ductility reduction factors for local, story, and global structural levels is ...
