Digital Cognitive Phenotyping for Differential Diagnosis and Monitoring in Neurological Conditions

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To assess the utility, accessibility, and equivalence to supervised scales of online cognitive assessment in older individuals with cognitive impairment. Methods Patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD, n = 31), idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH, n = 26), and traumatic brain injury (TBI, n = 23) completed online cognitive ...

Glucose metabolism and autonomic function in healthy individuals and patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at rest and during exercise

open access: yesExperimental Physiology
Autonomic dysfunction is a common complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, the character of dysfunction varies in different reports. Differences in measurement methodology and complications might have influenced the inconsistent results.

Digital Cognitive Testing in Mitochondrial Disease: Validity and Challenges for Clinical Trial Use

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Primary mitochondrial disease is a group of genetic disorders caused by pathogenic variants in nuclear or mitochondrial DNA, often resulting in progressive neurodegeneration and cognitive decline. Current management is primarily supportive, though recent research offers hope for disease‐modifying treatments in the future.

Natural Frequencies of Levodopa‐Induced Dyskinesia in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Abnormal involuntary movements, known as dyskinesias, are common complications of levodopa treatment in patients with Parkinson's disease and can significantly impair quality of life. The underlying pathophysiology remains unclear, and current therapeutic options are limited.

Diurnal Variations in Resting Metabolism

open access: yesEiyo To Shokuryo, 1974

Resting-state network organisation in children with traumatic brain injury

open access: yes, 2023
Children with traumatic brain injury are at risk of neurocognitive and behavioural impairment. Although there is evidence for abnormal brain activity in resting-state networks after TBI, the role of resting-state network organisation in paediatric TBI ...

Safety and Efficacy of GLP‐1 Receptor Agonists in Adults With Epilepsy, Obesity, and Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Managing obesity in patients with epilepsy is complicated by the weight‐gaining properties of essential antiseizure medications (ASMs) such as valproate and pregabalin. We evaluated the safety and efficacy of initiating glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs) in this population.

Metabolic and Fluid Biomarkers Support Microglia Activation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is an incurable neurodegenerative disease involving motor neuron degeneration and metabolic and immune dysfunction. We combined clinical data, cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers and fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography with magnetic resonance imaging to investigate the role of reactive microglia in disease ...

Neuroimaging evaluation of the long term impact of a novel paired meditation practice on brain function

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroimaging
BackgroundA growing number of advanced neuroimaging studies have compared brain structure and function in long term meditators to non-meditators. The goal is to determine if there may be long term effects on the brain from practicing meditation.
