Calcium-binding proteins in GABAergic calyciform synapses of the reticular nucleus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This thesis examines the possibility to find a relationship between the Nasdaq Nordea Smart Beta Indices and a series of macroeconomic indicators. This relationship will be used as a signal-value and implemented in a portfolio consisting of all six smart

Pharmacologic MRI Brain Imaging Studies of Serotonin 5‐HT1 Receptor Agonists in Awake Mice

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 14, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Serotonin (5‐hydroxytryptamine, 5‐HT) type‐1 G protein‐coupled receptors are expressed throughout the central nervous system. 5‐HT1AR activation is the putative mechanism of approved drugs for generalized anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder and is being studied in the treatment of autism and neurological disorders.

Localization of α-synuclein in teleost central nervous system: immunohistochemical and Western blot evidence by 3D5 monoclonal antibody in the common carp, Cyprinus carpio [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Alpha synuclein (α-syn) is a 140 amino acid vertebrate-specific protein, highly expressed in the human nervous system and abnormally accumulated in Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, known as synucleinopathies.

Hominoid‐specific calretinin‐immunopositivity of the optic radiation (geniculocalcarine tract)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 5, Page 1343-1367, May 2026.
Calretinin‐immunostained coronal section through the primary (V1) and extrastriate (ExSt) cortex of the lar gibbon. Note that the optic radiation (OR) is strongly calretinin‐immunoreactive. This calretinin‐immunopositivity of the OR distinguishes the Hominoidea from other primates in terms of the neurochemistry of the OR.

The neural circuit mechanism for auditory responses in the mediodorsal thalamic nucleus of awake mice

open access: yesCommunications Biology
The mediodorsal thalamic nucleus (MD) forms neural circuits with various brain regions, including the prefrontal cortex (PFC), the reticular thalamic nucleus (TRN), and the midbrain reticular nucleus (MRN).

Respiratory‐Limbic Coupling via a Thalamic Circuit Alleviates Anxiety

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 24, 27 April 2026.
This study delineates a conserved preBötCGlu→PVT→CeA circuit that gates anxiety and respiration. Activation of this circuit is anxiolytic and respiratory‐stabilizing, while its inhibition has the opposite effect. Mechanistically, PVT exerts its anxiolytic action via a disinhibitory microcircuit: its inputs preferentially target CeL GABAergic neurons ...

Intrinsic properties and neuropharmacology of midline paraventricular thalamic nucleus neurons.

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, 2014
Neurons in the midline and intralaminar thalamic nuclei are components of an interconnected brainstem, limbic and prefrontal cortex neural network that is engaged during arousal, vigilance, motivated and addictive behaviors, and stress.

Subanesthetic ketamine treatment promotes abnormal interactions between neural subsystems and alters the properties of functional brain networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Acute treatment with subanesthetic ketamine, a non-competitive N-methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) receptor antagonist, is widely utilized as a translational model for schizophrenia. However, how acute NMDA receptor blockade impacts on brain functioning at a

A Diagnosis Model of Typhoon‐Related Post‐Traumatic Stress Disorder Based on Fixel‐Based Analysis in Machine Learning

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Fixel‐based analysis revealed discrete patterns of white‐matter disruption in typhoon‐related PTSD, particularly affecting the frontopontine, middle longitudinal, and thalamo‐premotor pathways. Integrating these tract‐specific signatures into machine‐learning models allowed robust discrimination between PTSD and trauma‐exposed controls, suggesting ...

Thalamic Inhibition: Diverse Sources, Diverse Scales. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The thalamus is the major source of cortical inputs shaping sensation, action, and cognition. Thalamic circuits are targeted by two major inhibitory systems: the thalamic reticular nucleus (TRN) and extrathalamic inhibitory (ETI) inputs.
