Unraveling Neurodevelopment: Synergistic Effects of Intrinsic Genetic Programs and Extrinsic Environmental Cues

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Overview of the regulation of intrinsic and extrinsic signals during neurodevelopment. Intrinsic genetic signals from NSCs, in conjunction with cues from microglia and blood vessels, collaboratively regulate the proliferation of NSCs, their fate determination, synaptogenesis, synaptic pruning, neuronal survival, and death, as well as communication ...

SUMOylation is a Translatable Target in Hypoxic MNPs Regulating Retinal Vasculopathy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During ischemic retinopathy/retinal vasculopathy, UBC9‐mediated SUMOylation in retinal macrophages enhances their pro‐angiogenic capacity via hypoxia‐induced SUMOylation of FUS at K327/K502. This modification suppresses FUS binding to the Vegfa mRNA 3’UTR, stabilizing transcripts and facilitating VEGFA production. Targeting UBC9 inhibition can serve as

Response of Experimental Retinal Neovascularization to Thiazolidinediones [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Ophthalmology, 2001
To determine the effect of thiazolidinediones (TZDs) on experimental retinal neovascularization. The ability of the TZDs troglitazone and rosiglitazone maleate (1-20 micromol/L) to inhibit retinal endothelial cell (REC) proliferation, migration, tube formation, and signaling was determined in response to vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).

Chirality Regulates Stem Cell Fate and Promotes Corneal Epithelial Regeneration via Manipulating Notch Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chirality governs the limbal epithelial stem cell fate. Right‐handed chirality enhances cell proliferation and differentiation, while left‐handed chirality partially maintains cell stemness. By activating the Notch pathway, 3D right‐handed chiral hydrogel offers a drug‐free and cell‐free strategy for effective corneal regeneration.

Wide-field angiography in retinal vein occlusions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Retina and Vitreous, 2019
Background Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is the second most common retinal vascular disease after diabetic retinopathy. It can result in significant visual loss from complications like macula edema, retinal and iris neovascularization, and vitreous ...

Computer-aided quantification of retinal neovascularization [PDF]

open access: yesAngiogenesis, 2009
Rodent models of retinal angiogenesis play a pivotal role in angiogenesis research. These models are a window to developmental angiogenesis, to pathological retinopathy, and are also in vivo tools for anti-angiogenic drug screening in cancer and ophthalmic research.

Multifunctional Biomimetic Nanotherapeutics for Anti‐Oxidative and Anti‐Inflammatory Synergistic Therapy of Corneal Neovascularization

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
An anti‐inflammatory and antioxidant metal‐organic framework (MOF) nanoplatform was prepared via one‐pot self‐assembly. In vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated that the prepared MVPC nanoparticles can effectively scavenge overproduced reactive oxygen species at diseased sites, enhance IL‐10 secretion, and suppress VEGFA expression, offering a novel ...

Formononetin, an active compound of Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch) Bunge, inhibits hypoxia-induced retinal neovascularization via the HIF-1α/VEGF signaling pathway

open access: yesDrug Design, Development and Therapy, 2016
Background It has been reported that formononetin (FMN), one of the main ingredients from famous traditional Chinese medicine “Huang-qi” (Astragalus membranaceus [Fisch] Bunge) for Qi-tonifying, exhibits the effects of immunomodulation and tumor growth ...

The NLRP3 inflammasome pathway contributes to chronic inflammation in experimental autoimmune uveitis

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The present study investigates the role of the NLRP3 inflammasome in the chronicity of ocular inflammation in uveitis using the experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU) model. Whole eyes collected from EAU mice, 12 weeks post induction, were sectioned and subjected to immunohistochemistry. The confocal images from these sections were then assessed for the

MicroRNA signature and function in retinal neovascularization

open access: yesWorld Journal of Biological Chemistry, 2014
Ischemic retinopathies are clinically well-defined chronic microvascular complications characterized by gradually progressive alterations in the retinal microvasculature and a compensatory aberrant neovascularization of the eye. The subsequent metabolic deficiencies result in structural and functional alterations in the retina which is highly ...
