SPHINX31 acts as a SRPK1 inhibitor targeting the ATR/DNA‐PKcs/CHK1 replicative checkpoint to inhibit cell growth in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The kinase SRPK1 directly interacts with the protein TOPBP1 and regulates the pre‐mRNA splicing of WIZ thereby contributing to the activation of the ATR/CHK1 replicative checkpoint in response to replicative stress. This allows cancer cells' genomic stability and survival.

Shared and Unique Patterns of Dysregulated Dual Systems Between Adolescent Problematic Video Gaming and ADHD

open access: yesPsyCh Journal
The association between problematic video gaming (PVG) and ADHD has long attracted attention. Dual‐systems models posit that reward sensitivity (RS, the tendency to pursue rewards), inhibitory control (IC, the capacity to suppress prepotent responses ...

Targeting the EpCAM‐AXL axis to overcome drug resistance in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Lung cancer cells often evade therapy by hijacking signaling pathways. We reveal that cleaved EpCAM (sEpCAM) stabilizes the oncogenic protein AXL, driving NF‐κB and STAT3‐mediated chemoresistance. This EpCAM‐AXL axis identifies a high‐risk patient subset with poor prognosis.

Predictive effects of temperament on motivation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Educational Psychology, 2017
Although temperament and motivation both reflect individual differences in what is perceived as rewarding or threatening, and what is to be approached and what avoided, respectively, we know rather little about how they are connected in educational ...

Engineering IL‐4 resistant proinflammatory human myeloid cells for cancer immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a scalable workflow to generate proinflammatory human myeloid cells. CRISPR/Cas9‐edited CD34+ hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells were expanded and differentiated with M‐CSF. Deletion of STAT6 or STAT6/NFKB1 enhanced macrophage proinflammatory gene expression and cytokine secretion in the presence of IL‐4 while maintaining antibody ...

Heightened sensitivity to punishment and reward in anorexia nervosa

open access: yesAppetite, 2014
The aim of this study was to investigate reinforcement sensitivity in anorexia nervosa (AN). It was tested whether self-reported punishment (PS) and reward sensitivity (RS) differed between adolescents with AN and healthy controls, and/or between AN-subtypes.

Developmental continuity in reward-related enhancement of cognitive control

open access: yesDevelopmental Cognitive Neuroscience, 2014
Adolescents engage in more risky behavior than children or adults. The most prominent hypothesis for this phenomenon is that brain systems governing reward sensitivity and brain systems governing self-regulation mature at different rates.

Aquaporin‐3 and aquaporin‐5 impact the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma spheroids

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the role of aquaporin‐3 (AQP3) and aquaporin‐5 (AQP5) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Both proteins are upregulated in PDAC and are associated with tumor progression and metastatic potential. Silencing AQP3 or AQP5 in PDAC spheroids results in decreased diameter, area, and overall growth, underscoring their key ...

Social Reward Shaping in the Prisoner's Dilemma

open access: yes, 2008
Reward shaping is a well-known technique applied to help reinforcement-learning agents converge more quickly to near-optimal behavior. In this paper, we introduce social reward shaping, which is reward shaping applied in the multiagent-learning framework.
