Image retargeting using RGB-D camera
Multimedia Tools and Applications, 2014Forimage retargeting, most approaches only use color information to tackle this problem. In this paper, we analyze both color and depth information captured by a RGB-D camera to maintain the structure and preserve important regions. Particularly, we present a content-aware image retargeting algorithm based on depth information.

Fall Recovery Subactivity Recognition With RGB-D Cameras
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, 2016Accidental falls have been identified as a cause of mortality for elders who live alone around the globe. Following a fall, additional injury can be sustained if proper fall recovery techniques are not followed. These secondary complications can be reduced if the person had access to safe recovery procedures or were assisted, either by a person or a ...

Structure Selective Depth Superresolution for RGB-D Cameras
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2016This paper describes a method for high-quality depth superresolution. The standard formulations of image-guided depth upsampling, using simple joint filtering or quadratic optimization, lead to texture copying and depth bleeding artifacts. These artifacts are caused by inherent discrepancy of structures in data from different sensors.

Towards an omnidirectional catadioptric RGB-D camera
2016 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), 2016In this paper we address the 3D reconstruction of points, on a non-central catadioptric system, composed by a mirror, a projector, and a perspective camera. The goal of the paper is to propose a framework to build an omnidirectional depth camera, towards an omnidirectional RGB-D camera system.

Virtual view synthesis using RGB-D cameras
2016 3DTV-Conference: The True Vision - Capture, Transmission and Display of 3D Video (3DTV-CON), 2016A view synthesis problem is to generate a virtual view based on the given one or multiple views and their associated depth maps. We adopt the depth image based rendering (DIBR) approach in this paper for synthesizing the new views. No explicit 3D modeling is involved.

Accurate pedestrian detection using RGB-D camera
2017 IEEE 9th International Conference on Communication Software and Networks (ICCSN), 2017In this paper, we present an integrated method for Pedestrian Detection using RGB-D camera. It is clearly that depth channel of the image can provide an extra info. In this paper, depth image is used to construct background model in order to produce an image ROI, and color image makes a texture partition.

A catadioptric extension for RGB-D cameras
2014 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2014The typically restricted field of view of visual sensors often imposes limitations on the performance of localization and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) approaches. In this paper, we propose and analyze the combination of an RGB-D camera with two planar mirrors to split the field of view such that it covers both front and rear view of a ...

Depth Error Elimination for RGB-D Cameras
ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology, 2015The rapid spreading of RGB-D cameras has led to wide applications of 3D videos in both academia and industry, such as 3D entertainment and 3D visual understanding. Under these circumstances, extensive research efforts have been dedicated to RGB-D camera--oriented topics.

Automatic objects segmentation with RGB-D cameras
Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation, 2014Automatic object segmentation is a fundamentally difficult problem due to issues such as shadow, lighting, and semantic gaps. Edges play a critical role in object segmentation; however, it is almost impossible for the computer to know which edges correspond to object boundaries and which are caused by internal texture discontinuities.

Modeling hair from an RGB-D camera
ACM Transactions on Graphics, 2018Creating realistic 3D hairs that closely match the real-world inputs remains challenging. With the increasing popularity of lightweight depth cameras featured in devices such as iPhone X, Intel RealSense and DJI drones, depth cues can be very helpful in consumer applications, for example, the Animated Emoji.
