Quantitative predictive modelling approaches to understanding rheumatoid arthritis: A brief review [PDF]
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disease that is a major public health challenge. The disease is characterised by inflammation of synovial joints and cartilage erosion, which leads to chronic pain, poor life quality and, in some cases, premature mortality.

ObjectiveDendritic cells (DCs) are key orchestrators of immune function. To date, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) researchers have predominantly focused on a potential pathogenic role for CD1c+ DCs.

Rheumatoid meningitis sine arthritis. [PDF]
Rheumatoid meningitis is a rare and very serious extra-articular manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis. We present a case of a 7()year-old female with no history of arthritis who developed stroke-like symptoms, seizures, psychosis and compulsive behavior.

Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

Employing Feature Selection Algorithms to Determine the Immune State of a Mouse Model of Rheumatoid Arthritis [PDF]
The immune response is a dynamic process by which the body determines whether an antigen is self or nonself. The state of this dynamic process is defined by the relative balance and population of inflammatory and regulatory actors which comprise this decision making process. The goal of immunotherapy as applied to, e.g. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), then,

Genomics‐led approach to drug testing in models of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma
GA text Genomic data from undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma patients and preclinical models were used to inform a targeted drug screen. Selected compounds were tested in 2D and 3D cultures of UPS cell lines. A combination of trametinib and infigratinib was synergistic in the majority of UPS cell lines tested, which was further confirmed in an ex ...

The results of family and twin studies suggest that RA may result from an interaction between an oligogenic susceptibility and unknown environmental factors. Part of this genetic predisposition is accounted for by genes within the MHC where there is a well-documented association with HLA-DR4.

Estimation of age-specific excess mortality of men and women with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in Germany [PDF]
A MCMC approach is used to estimate the age-specific mortality rate ratio for German men and women with RA. For constructing priors, we calculate a range of admissible values from prevalence and incidence data based on about 60 million people in Germany.
