Detection of human pathogenic Fusarium species in hospital and communal sink biofilms by using a highly specific monoclonal antibody [PDF]
This is the author accepted manuscript. The final version is available from Wiley via the DOI in this record. The fungus Fusarium is well known as a plant pathogen, but has recently emerged as an opportunistic pathogen of humans. Habitats providing direct

We investigated the survival of the yeast Rhodotorula frigidalcoholis and analysed its RNA after exposure to icy moon conditions. Our results show how the yeast can tolerate the extreme conditions and performs metabolic functions under the exposure conditions; for example, by halting the cell cycle in order to repair. Created in BioRender.

Heavy metal tolerance and removal efficiency of the Rhodotorula mucilaginosa and Saccharomyces boulardii planktonic cells and biofilm [PDF]
The impact of heavy metals, cadmium (Cd2+), zinc (Zn2+) and nickel (Ni2+) on planktonic cells and biofilm of Rhodotorula mucilaginosa and Saccharomyces boulardii was examined. The metal tolerance testing was performed by MBECTM-HTP assay.

Statistical optimisation of cell growth and carotenoid production by Rhodotorula mucilaginosa [PDF]
Sequential statistical methods were used to maximise carotenoid production by a strain of Rhodotorula mucilaginosa, isolated from the Brazilian ecosystem. Initially, a factorial 2(5-1) experimental design was used, and the variables were pH and the levels of glucose, yeast extract, MgSO4.7H2O and KH2PO4. The nitrogen source (yeast extract) was the most

Yeast‐Based Biotechnology for Civilian Security
Yeasts constitute robust and versatile eukaryotic platforms for biotechnological applications relevant to civilian security. Both native and genetically engineered yeast systems enable sensitive detection of chemical and biological hazards, effective removal of metals and organic pollutants, and detoxification of mycotoxins.

Evaluation of Rhodotorula growth on solid substrate via a linear mixed effects model
The growth of Rhodotorula glutinis and Rhodotorula mucilaginosa was studied under optimal and stress cultivation conditions at 10°C and 20°C for 14 days. The method of image analysis was used to determine the size of colonies.

A differential medium for the enumeration of the spollage yeast zygosaccharomyces bailii in wine [PDF]
A collection of yeasts, isolated mostly from spoiled wines, was used in order to develop a differential medium for Zygosaccharomyces bailii. The 118 selected strains of 21 species differed in their origin and resistance to preservatives and belonged to ...
