Tetrodotoxin in two species of ribbon worm (Nemertini), Lineus fuscoviridis and Tubulanus punctatus

Toxicon, 1988
Extracts of two species of ribbon worm, Lineus fuscoviridis and Tubulanus punctatus, had lethal potencies in mice from 15-503 MU/g of worm and from less than 10-540 MU/g, respectively. The toxins were partially purified by ultrafiltration and column chromatography using Bio-Gel P-2 and Bio-Rex 70 (H+ form).

Disentangling ribbon worm relationships: multi‐locus analysis supports traditional classification of the phylum Nemertea

Cladistics, 2011
AbstractThe phylogenetic relationships of selected members of the phylum Nemertea are explored by means of six markers amplified from the genomic DNA of freshly collected specimens (the nuclear 18S rRNA and 28S rRNA genes, histones H3 and H4, and the mitochondrial genes 16S rRNA and cytochrome c oxidase subunit I).

Species Diversity of Japanese Ribbon Worms (Nemertea)

2016
This chapter provides a brief taxonomic conspectus of the Japanese nemerteans with photographs of 100 species. A total of 126 species are recognized in Japanese waters, but there are still at least 77 unreported/undescribed forms awaiting formal description.

A worm-like trace of cathode spots on Cu–Zr–Ti amorphous ribbons

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2003
On Cu-Zr-Ti amorphous ribbons, a lot of worm-like traces or quasi-continuous traces of cathode spots have been clearly observed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). This kind of trace is eroded by the motion of a single spot step by step, and could not be observed on cathodes made of crystalline materials. Spot motion direction can be identified

A new nemertean species: what are the useful characters for ribbon worm descriptions?

Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, 2013
In recent years the Norwegian Taxonomy Initiative started thorough investigations of poorly known organism groups. In this context, several marine inventories have rendered a number of marine invertebrate species new to science. Within the phylum Nemertea (ribbon worms) a characteristic hoplonemertean was encountered on two different occasions.

Distribution of tetrodotoxin in the ribbon worm Lineus alborostratus (Takakura, 1898) (nemertea): Immunoelectron and immunofluorescence studies

Toxicon, 2016
Transmission electron and confocal laser scanning (CLSM) microscopies with monoclonal anti-tetrodotoxin antibodies were used to locate tetrodotoxin (TTX) in tissues and gland cells of the ribbon worm Lineus alborostratus. CLSM studies have shown that the toxin is primarily localized in the cutis (special subepidermal layer) of the body wall and in the ...

The biology and systematics of a new species of ribbon worm, genus Tubulanus (phylum Nemertea)

2023
Most nemerteans are studied from poorly preserved museum specimens. Much of the existing data on this group of worms is incomplete at best. Only through thorough species descriptions from live animals and properly preserved specimens will we be able to reconstruct the life history relationships of this cryptic group of worms. Since nemerteans generally
