Statistical Mechanics of Developable Ribbons
We investigate the statistical mechanics of long developable ribbons of finite width and very small thickness. The constraint of isometric deformations in these ribbon-like structures that follows from the geometric separation of scales introduces a ...

Freshwater Ribbon Worms (Nemertea) from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park [PDF]
Abstract Freshwater ribbon worms collected in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park from 9 June 2007 until 28 September 2010 are reported. All six specimens are identified as genus Prostoma. Species identification is not concluded and also no conclusion is made whether any of the specimens are of a new or undescribed species.

Getting DNA twist rigidity from single molecule experiments [PDF]
We use an elastic rod model with contact to study the extension versus rotation diagrams of single supercoiled DNA molecules. We reproduce quantitatively the supercoiling response of overtwisted DNA and, using experimental data, we get an estimation of ...

Identification of novel invertebrate TKR gene sequence in intertidal ribbon worms
The invertebrate ribbon worm, Paranemertes peregrina , serves as a unique model in that it thrives in an environment exposed to drastic fluctuations in salinity during tidal interchange. Its ability to sustain homeostatic integrity is not well understood.
