[36] Biosynthesis of riboflavin: Lumazine synthase and riboflavin synthase

1997
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the biosynthesis of riboflavin. 6,7-Dimethyl-8-ribityllumazine is developed as the direct biosynthetic precursor of riboflavin. The lumazine derivative is converted to riboflavin by the enzyme riboflavin synthase.

Electrochemistry of riboflavin-binding protein and its interaction with riboflavin

Bioelectrochemistry, 2009
Riboflavin-binding protein (RBP, a carrier of riboflavin) plays an essential role in embryo development. Electrochemical studies of the riboflavin-RBP interactions have been so far limited to changes in polarographic and voltammetric responses of riboflavin because of lack of methods capable to detect electrochemical changes in the RBP responses.

Competitive binding assays for riboflavin and riboflavin-binding protein

Analytical Biochemistry, 1982
Abstract A competitive binding procedure that can be used to determine either riboflavin or riboflavin-binding protein has been developed. Riboflavin-binding protein from chicken egg white binds tightly to DEAE-cellulose while free riboflavin does not.

Impact and consequences of dietary riboflavin deficiency treatment on flesh quality loss in on-growing grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella).

Food & Function, 2019
Fish is among the cheapest and most promising sources of animal protein. The main edible portion of fish is muscle. This study explored the impact of dietary riboflavin on fish flesh quality and showed the possible role of muscle antioxidant defense in ...

Utilization of Analogues of Riboflavin by the Riboflavin-deficient Chick Embryo

The Journal of Nutrition, 1977
Detailed studies of the biological activity of several analogues of riboflavin in the riboflavin-deficient chick embryo were undertaken to extend our knowledge of the comparative biochemistry of these flavins. The riboflavin-deficient eggs were produced by hens homozygous for an autosomal recessive gene (rdrd).

Efficient synthesis of riboflavin-imprinted magnetic nanoparticles by boronate affinity-based surface imprinting for the selective recognition of riboflavin.

In Analysis, 2018
Riboflavin (vitamin B2), a cis-diol-containing compound, is an essential vitamin for maintaining human health mainly in energy metabolism and is a critical component of enzyme cofactors and flavoproteins.

RIBOFLAVIN

1972
Publisher Summary Riboflavin is identical with vitamin B2. A high concentration of riboflavin is contained in the eyes of many fish, in certain crabs, in Hemopis sanguisuga, in Tineola bisselliella, in the malpighian tube of fireflies, in the eyes of cockroaches, and in the seminal vesicles of some bulls.
