Fortification and health: challenges and opportunities. [PDF]
Fortification is the process of adding nutrients or non-nutrient bioactive components to edible products (e.g., food, food constituents, or supplements). Fortification can be used to correct or prevent widespread nutrient intake shortfalls and associated

Clinical, biochemical and genetic spectrum of 70 patients with ACAD9 deficiency: Is riboflavin supplementation effective? [PDF]
Background: Mitochondrial acyl-CoA dehydrogenase family member 9 (ACAD9) is essential for the assembly of mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I. Disease causing biallelic variants in ACAD9 have been reported in individuals presenting with lactic ...

Structural and Functional Properties of Ingredient Composition in Kenkey Preparation: A Review
This review synthesizes three decades of research on kenkey, a fermented maize staple of West Africa. Examining the structural, functional, and nutritional properties that emerge from traditional fermentation and thermal processing, and identifying priorities for future research toward quality standardization and commercial development. ABSTRACT Kenkey,

High‐Energy‐Density Redox Flow Batteries: Mechanisms, Design Strategies, and Recent Progress
ABSTRACT The inherent intermittency of energy sources such as solar and wind power hinders the transition to renewable energy, necessitating advanced energy storage solutions. Enhancing energy density is crucial for lowering system costs and enabling large‐scale deployment.

A juvenile ALS‐like phenotype dramatically improved after high‐dose riboflavin treatment
Riboflavin transporter deficiency (RTD) was recently characterized as a cause of genetic recessive childhood‐onset motor neuron disease (MND) with hearing loss, formerly described as Brown‐Vialetto‐Van‐Lear syndrome.

This study reports a mild “Zn(NO3)2 interlayer‐expansion” strategy combined with electrodeposition to produce a self‐supporting capacitive anode (NiFe@PC) that preserves the wood's native low‐tortuosity channels. The retained native architecture expands niches for microbial colonization.

Inherited metabolic epilepsies–established diseases, new approaches
Abstract Inherited metabolic epilepsies (IMEs) represent the inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) in which epilepsy is a prevailing component, often determining other neurodevelopmental outcomes associated with the disorder. The different metabolic pathways affected by individual IMEs are the basis of their rarity and heterogeneity.

Boiling retained the nutrients and polyphenol compounds in Plectranthus esculentus tubers better than frying or roasting. A bioavailability study showed that the phytates and oxalates in the tuber may not affect the bioavailabilities of calcium, zinc, or iron in Plectranthus esculentus tubers when eaten.
