DDX21 Promotes Breast Cancer Growth and Metastasis via Stimulating RNAPII Elongation During Hypoxia

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
DDX21 triggers CDK9 release from the 7SK RNP complex. DDX21‐CDK9 binding to HIFs drives transcriptional reprogramming during hypoxia. DDX21 enhances breast cancer progression and metastasis. Elevated DDX21 expression correlates with poor prognosis in breast cancer patients.

RNA Modifications in Tumor Microenvironment: A New Dimension for Cancer Treatment

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
Tumor initiation and progression depend on a supportive and highly heterogeneous tumor microenvironment (TME). RNA modifications regulate signaling pathways and cytokine networks that shape TME dynamics, facilitating interactions between cancer cells and noncancerous stromal cells, and ultimately promoting immune evasion and tumor progression ...

Co‐translational protein targeting to mitochondria in the context of co‐translational protein maturation

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Mitochondria import the majority of their proteins from the cytosol, creating a fundamental challenge: precursor proteins must be synthesized, maintained in an import‐competent state, and delivered to mitochondrial translocases without premature folding or aggregation. While mitochondrial protein import has been considered a post‐translational

Molecular Interplay of PARN and Telomerase: Tail Modifiers and Disease Implications

open access: yesWIREs RNA, Volume 17, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Schematic representation of the molecular interplay between PARN, telomerase‐associated, and the involvement of p53 in regulating telomere maintenance and genome stability. The top panel shows how normal PARN levels are involved in regulating p53 levels and balanced telomerase activity through their regulatory interaction with TERC and TERRA, thus ...

Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus: A persistent seed‐borne threat to cucurbits

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 189, Issue 1, July 2026.
Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) is a highly stable, seed‐borne tobamovirus that threatens global cucurbit production. Its efficient mechanical and seed transmission, long‐term environmental persistence, and the spread of Clade II CGMMV isolates drive its rapid dissemination and cause severe yield losses.
