Innovative Cyclic Nucleotides – Nucleoside 2′,3′‐Seven‐Membered Cyclic Diphosphonate Derivatives. Theoretical Feasibility, Synthesis, and Properties

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
First report on 7‐membered cyclic nucleotides, 2',3'‐cNTDPs, obtained from all‐natural free ribonucleosides in robust, step‐economic synthesis involving instantaneous and regio‐selective reaction. DFT calculations confirmed the feasibility of 7‐membered cyclic nucleotide formation and deciphered the basis for regioselectivity.

Regulation of translation by methylation multiplicity of 18S rRNA

open access: yesCell Reports, 2021
Summary: N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is a conserved ribonucleoside modification that regulates many facets of RNA metabolism. Using quantitative mass spectrometry, we find that the universally conserved tandem adenosines at the 3′ end of 18S rRNA, thought ...

Degradation of nucleic acids with ozone. I. Degradation of nucleobases, ribonucleosides and ribonucleoside-5'-monophosphates.

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1981
The degradation of nucleobases, ribonucleosides and ribonucleotides with ozone was examined as a model of the action of ozone on nucleic acids. The degradation rates of nucleobases were in the following order : G, T>U>C>A. Nucleosides and nucleotides were degraded in the same order as in the corresponding nucleobases.

Direct comparison of nick-joining activity of the nucleic acid ligases from bacteriophage T4 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The genome of bacteriophage T4 encodes three polynucleotide ligases, which seal the backbone of nucleic acids during infection of host bacteria. The T4Dnl (T4 DNA ligase) and two RNA ligases [T4Rnl1 (T4 RNA ligase 1) and T4Rnl2] join a diverse array of ...

Overexpression of Phosphoribosyl Pyrophosphate Synthase Enhances Resistance of Chlamydomonas to Ionizing Radiation

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
The enzyme phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthase (PRPS) catalyzes the conversion of ribose 5-phosphate into phosphoribosyl diphosphate; the latter is a precursor of purine and pyrimidine nucleotides.

Noncanonical Nucleotides in the Genome Around the Maternal‐Zygotic Transition

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part B: Molecular and Developmental Evolution, EarlyView.
In this paper, Kazzazi et al. provide a comprehensive review of the dynamics of nonconventional nucleotides in the genome during early developmental stages, hypothesizing a potential role for these nucleotides in the activation of the zygotic genome. ABSTRACT From the very moment of fertilization and throughout development, the cells of animal embryos ...
