Influence of Inorganic Phosphate on Photosynthesis of Wheat Chloroplasts: II. RIBULOSE BISPHOSPHATE CARBOXYLASE ACTIVITY [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Isolated wheat chloroplasts were pre-incubated in the dark in the presence of various concentrations of inorganic phosphate with or without carbon dioxide, oxaloacetate, glycerate, and 3-phosphoglycerate.

Covalent dimerization of ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase subunits by UV radiation [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1996
The effect of UV radiation (UV-A, UV-B and UV-C) on ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase from a variety of plant species was examined. The exposition of plant leaves or the pure enzyme to UV radiation produced a UV-dependent accumulation of a 65 kDa polypeptide (P65).

Antagonistic Ghd7‐OsNAC42 Complexes Modulate Carbon and Nitrogen Metabolism to Achieves Superior Quality and High Yield in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The complex centered on Ghd7 binds to numerous carbon and nitrogen metabolism genes on the genome through the corresponding motifs and transactivates the transcriptional expression of these carbon and nitrogen metabolism genes. With the assistance of OsNAC42 and other unknown Ghd7‐interacting proteins, this complex can regulate different metabolic ...

Low irradiance alters carbon metabolism and delays flower stalk development in two orchids

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2013
In Phalaenopsis, lowering irradiance has been used to delay flower stalk development but the accompanying biochemical changes remain poorly understood. We cultured two commercial Phalaenopsis-type orchids, Phalaenopsis cv.

Biomimetic chloroplasts: Two‐phase microfluidic platforms with selective permeability for artificial photosynthesis

open access: yesDroplet, EarlyView.
We present a biomimetic chloroplast system that integrates light‐dependent and light‐independent reactions, reaction compartments, and selectively permeable interfaces using a biphasic microfluidic droplet platform. This system enables continuous substrate–product exchange, mitigating product inhibition and side reactions, thus enhancing reaction ...

The hydrogen peroxide-sensitive proteome of the chloroplast in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2013
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) evolves during cellular metabolism and accumulates under various stresses causing serious redox imbalances. Many proteomics studies aiming to identify proteins sensitive to H2O2 used concentrations that were above the ...

The effects of bivalent cations on ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1981
The half-saturation constants for binding of the bivalent cations (Mg2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Fe2+ and Mn2+) to ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase from Glycine max and Rhodospirillum rubrum were measured. The values obtained were dependent on the enzyme and the cation present, but were the same for both oxygenase and carboxylase activities.

Inhibition of ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase assembly by antibody to a binding protein. [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of cell biology, 1986
We have developed an assay to monitor in vitro the posttranslational assembly of the chloroplast protein, ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (RuBisCO). Most of the newly synthesized 55-kD catalytic ("large") subunits of this enzyme occur in a 29S complex together with 60- and 61-kD "binding" proteins. When the 29S complex is incubated with

Understanding stoichiometric adjustments in a freshwater plant: Responses to sediment and water nutrient dynamics across lake trophic gradients

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Despite ongoing efforts to reduce nutrient inputs, eutrophication continues to disrupt biogeochemical cycles and destabilize freshwater food webs. In this study, we examine the stoichiometric responses of the freshwater plant Myriophyllum spicatum under varied environmental conditions across lakes of differing trophic status.

Fulvic Acid Enhances Oat Growth and Grain Yield Under Drought Deficit by Regulating Ascorbate–Glutathione Cycle, Chlorophyll Synthesis, and Carbon–Assimilation Ability

open access: yesAgronomy
Drought deficit inhibits oat growth and yield. Fulvic acid (FA) can enhance plant stress tolerance, but its effects on regulating the ascorbate–glutathione cycle, chlorophyll synthesis, and carbon–assimilation ability remain unclear.
