RICE STRAW CELLULOSE AEROGELS

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Science and Technology, 2018
In this study, cellulose was obtained from rice straw by dewaxing with Soxhlet extraction and treating with sodium hydroxide and hydrogen peroxide. The obtained cellulose was used to successfully fabricate cellulose aerogels with a binder by freeze drying technique.

Ensiling and Fermentation of Rice Hulls With Ruminal Fluid for Medium‐Chain Carboxylate Production

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Large quantities of rice hulls are common at milling sites in Nigeria. They are a by‐product of rice processing and can contribute to environmental degradation if not properly managed. In this study, rice hulls were pretreated by ensiling at ambient temperature and then used as substrate for medium‐chain carboxylates (MCCs) production ...

Nanocellulose extraction from rice straw

open access: yes, 2021
Introduction: Agriculture fields such as wood, bast fibers, gasses, along with aquatic animals, algae, fungi, etc. are a major source of component nanocellulose and also a major source of industrial waste which is utilized as adsorbents (1). Rice straw act as a good adsorbent for heavy metal removal due to the presence of binding sites cellulose ...

Eggshell‐Based Biochar for Superior Adsorption of Crystal Violet Dye and Fluoride From Wastewater

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Present study investigates the efficiency of eggshell biochar as a low‐cost and ecofriendly adsorbent for the simultaneous removal of fluoride ions and crystal violet (CV) dye from wastewater. The eggshell waste was pyrolyzed to produce biochar, which was thoroughly characterized and subsequently employed for contaminant adsorption.

Adsorption Desulfurization of Liquid Fuel Using a Blend of Date Stones and Walnut Shells by Box–Behnken Design

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A specific microporous KOH/activated‐biochar (K/BC) was produced from a blend of date stones (DS) and walnut shells (WS) and used in the adsorptive desulfurization (ADS) of two types of model fuel DBT/n‐hexane (S‐hex), DBT/cyclohexane (S‐cyclohex).

Potency and Carrying Capacity of Rice Straw for Beef Cattle Feeding in East Kalimantan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Utilization of rice straw instead of green fodder is very potential to meet the scarcity of green fodder in the dry season. Low nutrient content and bulky characteristic of rice straw can be anticipated through treatment.
