ABSTRACT Background and Aims Accurate classification of brain tumors is vital for effective treatment planning. Manual assessment of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans is often subjective and time‐consuming. This exploratory study proposes a machine learning approach integrating radiomic features from contrast‐enhanced T1‐weighted MRI scans to ...

3-D Discrete Analytical Ridgelet Transform [PDF]
In this paper, we propose an implementation of the 3-D Ridgelet transform: the 3-D discrete analytical Ridgelet transform (3-D DART). This transform uses the Fourier strategy for the computation of the associated 3-D discrete Radon transform. The innovative step is the definition of a discrete 3-D transform with the discrete analytical geometry theory ...

ENO-wavelet transforms for piecewise smooth functions [PDF]
We have designed an adaptive essentially nonoscillatory (ENO)-wavelet transform for approximating discontinuous functions without oscillations near the discontinuities. Our approach is to apply the main idea from ENO schemes for numerical shock capturing

Abstract Fossilized food items found in or passed through the digestive tract of an animal (bromalites) offer a window into the dietary habits and ecological role of the producer taxon. Bromalites have been documented from several small to mid‐sized parvipelvian ichthyosaurian species from the Lower Jurassic, but are seldom documented for the largest ...

Ridgelet-based signature for natural image classification [PDF]
This paper presents an approach to grouping natural scenes into (semantically) meaningful categories. The proposed approach exploits the statistics of natural scenes to define relevant image categories.

Deep Convolutional Neural Networks Based on Semi-Discrete Frames
Deep convolutional neural networks have led to breakthrough results in practical feature extraction applications. The mathematical analysis of these networks was pioneered by Mallat, 2012.

The Stationary Phase Approximation, Time-Frequency Decomposition and Auditory Processing [PDF]
The principle of stationary phase (PSP) is re-examined in the context of linear time-frequency (TF) decomposition using Gaussian, gammatone and gammachirp filters at uniform, logarithmic and cochlear spacings in frequency. This necessitates consideration

Active Seismic Exploration of Planetary Subsurfaces via Compressive Sensing
Abstract Geophysical measurements, such as seismic experiments, are a key target for scientific activities on planetary surfaces. Dense spatial sampling of such measurements is often desirable, and acquisition is traditionally performed at regular intervals.

The curvelet transform for image denoising [PDF]
We describe approximate digital implementations of two new mathematical transforms, namely, the ridgelet transform and the curvelet transform. Our implementations offer exact reconstruction, stability against perturbations, ease of implementation, and ...

A Note on Fractional Gabor Systems in L2(ℝ)
In this article, fractional Gabor frames in L2(ℝ) are defined and studied. Also, a finite linear combination of fractional Gabor frames for L2(ℝ) is discussed. It is proved that under certain conditions, a finite linear combination of fractional Gabor frames is a fractional Gabor frame for L2(ℝ).
