Clinical outcomes after revision knee arthroplasty due to periprosthetic joint infection: A single‐centre study of 359 knees at a high‐volume centre with a minimum of one year follow‐up

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Decisions on the treatment of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) are typically guided by established algorithms. However, as these algorithms often lack substantial supporting evidence, this study aimed to evaluate 1‐year survival rates and compare different surgical approaches.

Reassessment of the genetic basis of natural rifampin resistance in the genus Rickettsia

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen
Rickettsia, a genus of obligate intracellular bacteria, includes species that cause significant human diseases. This study challenges previous claims that the Leucine‐973 residue in the RNA polymerase beta subunit is the primary determinant of rifampin ...

Topical rifampin powder for orthopedic trauma part I: Rifampin powder reduces recalcitrant infection in a delayed treatment musculoskeletal trauma model

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, 2018
Open fractures become infected despite meticulous debridement and care. Locally applied antibiotics, commonly embedded in polymethylmethacrylate, deliver high doses of drug directly to the fracture site.

In Vitro MIC Values of Rifampin and Ethambutol and Treatment Outcome in Mycobacterium avium Complex Lung Disease

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 2018
Although it is known that the in vitro MICs of rifampin and ethambutol are poorly correlated with the clinical response in Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) lung disease (MAC-LD), evidence for this is limited.

Population Pharmacokinetics and Exposure–Response Relationships of Maribavir in Transplant Recipients With First Episode or Refractory Cytomegalovirus

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Maribavir's anti‐cytomegalovirus (CMV) activity and favorable safety/tolerability profile is a welcomed addition to the CMV treatment armamentarium. To further characterize pharmacokinetic (PK) and exposure–response relationships of maribavir in transplant recipients with CMV, a population PK model was updated with data from the AURORA study ...
