Si─Si Bonding in an Unsupported N‐Heterocyclic Silylene Dimer Stabilized by an Iminophosphorane‐Based Scorpionate Ligand Versus Head‐to‐Tail Coordination in the Sn and Pb Tetrylenes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A new iminophosphorane‐based scorpionate ligand enabled the characterization of a head‐to‐head silylene dimer with unsupported Si─Si bonding, whereas the tetrylene species of Sn and Pb afforded head‐to‐tail coordination polymers in the solid state. ABSTRACT N,N‐chelating ligands disfavor element–element bonding in heavier alkene analogs of group 13 and

Alkali‐Metal Base Catalyzed Electrocyclization of Isoprene Derivatives

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Simple and abundant alkali‐metal base catalysis in combination with Lewis basic polyamines enables the electrocyclization of isoprene‐derived trienes to cycloheptadienes under neat conditions. Mechanistic insight supported by DFT guides a scalable route to seven‐membered carbocycles which, after reduction, give saturated cycloalkanes relevant as ...

Synthesis of a sucrose-based macrocycle with unsymmetrical monosaccharides "arms"

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2018
An efficient methodology for the selective substitution of both terminal positions (C6 and C6’) in 1’,2,3,3’,4,4’-hexa-O-benzylsucrose with different unsaturated monosaccharide units is presented.

Expanded Scorpionate and Siderophore‐Inspired Ligands: From Foundational Designs to Modern Applications

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
The concept of scorpionate ligands has evolved significantly since the introduction of tris(pyrazolyl)borate. By integrating a biological supramolecular ligand scaffold with the classic scorpionate architecture, researchers have made notable strides in mimicking the active sites of nitrogenase and advancing homogeneous catalysis.

“Naked” Divalent Metal Cations Stabilized by Weakly Coordinating Anions: Syntheses, Properties, and Emerging Applications

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
The preparation of soluble and stable metal M2+ dications only stabilized by weakly coordinating anions, that is, M[WCA]2 salts, is an emerging field that, beyond its fundamental interest, holds promise in reactivity due to the high electrophilicity of the central M2+ center.

Z-Selective Homodimerization of Terminal Olefins with a Ruthenium Metathesis Catalyst [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The cross-metathesis of terminal olefins using a novel ruthenium catalyst results in excellent selectivity for the Z-olefin homodimer. The reaction was found to tolerate a large number of functional groups, solvents, and temperatures while maintaining ...

Chelated Ruthenium Catalysts for Z-Selective Olefin Metathesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We report the development of ruthenium-based metathesis catalysts with chelating N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands that catalyze highly Z-selective olefin metathesis.

A Crystalline Ylide‐Stabilized Stibenium Cation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
The isolation of a stibenium cation stabilized by two thiophosphinoyl‐tethered ylide groups is reported. The cation is accessible via salt metathesis of the metalated ylide with SbCl3 and features CSb single bonds, with lone pairs remaining localized at the ylidic carbon atoms.
