Ring-Opening Polycondensation

Macromolecular Rapid Communications, 2000
Since the days of Carothers polycondensations and other step-growth polymerizations were described in the review articles and textbooks on the basis of linear monomers. Having reactive “a” and/or “b” groups, on the other hand, cyclic monomers were usually presented in combination with Ring-Opening Polymerizations (ROPs) which obey the kinetic scheme of

Ring-opening Polymerization of Lactones

2018
The synthesis of aliphatic polyesters by the ring-opening polymerization of cyclic monoesters was discovered by Carothers in the 1930s. Since then, a plethora of catalysts and initiators have been discovered to promote this polymerization. Nowadays, steadily increasing attention is paid to organocatalysts and, among them, acids, bases, and H-bond ...

Ring-opening polymerization

1990
Abstract In Chapter 3, I have described the chemistry in which compounds with cumulated double bonds (X=Y=Z) or an unsaturated carbon-carbon bond (e.g. isocyanate, carbodiimide, alkoxyacetylene, vinyl ether, and ketene acetal) undergo reaction with aldoximes, primary nitroalkanes, hydroxamic acids, etc. to give intramolecular dehydration

Ring-Opening Polymerization

2017
Ring-opening polymerization (ROP) is an important method of polymerization. It differs from radical polymerization (Chap. 9), ionic polymerization (Chap. 10), and step-growth polymerization (Chap. 8). No low-molar-mass by-products are formed, except during the polymerization of Leuchs’ anhydride (Figs. 12.41 and 12.42).
