Emerging crescentic patterns in modelled double sandbar systems under normally incident waves [PDF]

open access: yesEarth Surface Dynamics, 2020
Double sandbar systems often characterize the surf zone of wave-dominated beaches and display a variety of poorly explained spatial configurations.

Rip Currents Off Rocky‐Shore Surge Channels

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2023
AbstractMore than half the world's coastlines are rocky, but rip‐current dynamics on these topographically complex shores have not been studied. Field experiments on a typical rocky shore using video, drifters, and in‐situ current meters and pressure sensors reveal that incoming narrow‐banded swells result in incident wave groups that force breakpoint ...

Numerical simulations of larval transport into a rip‐channeled surf zone [PDF]

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, 2014
Competent larvae of intertidal invertebrates have to migrate toward shore for settlement; however, their migration through the surf zone is not understood. We investigated larval transport mechanisms at a rip‐channeled beach. Because tracking larvae in the surf zone is infeasible, we used a three‐dimensional biophysical model to simulate the processes.

Insight into Heterogeneous Calcite Cementation of Turbidite Channel-Fills from UAV Photogrammetry

open access: yesGeosciences, 2019
Diagenesis is a key controlling factor on sandstone porosity and permeability. Understanding type, paragenetic sequence and spatial patterns of cements is thus important for assessing sandstone hydrocarbon reservoir properties.

CircRIMKLB promotes myoblast proliferation and inhibits differentiation by sponging miR-29c to release KCNJ12

open access: yesEpigenetics, 2022
Muscle development is a complex process that was regulated by many factors, among which non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) play a vital role in regulating multiple life activities of muscle cells.

Compressive Downlink Channel Estimation for FDD Massive MIMO Using Weighted $l_{p}$ Minimization

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
We propose a weighted Ip minimization method for downlink channel estimation in frequency division duplexing massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems.

Connecting Users with Their Data: An Environment to Explore the Morphodynamics of Rip Channels

open access: yesCartographica, 2007
Remote sensors are widely used in coastal morphodynamic research, and users are often confronted with abundant data sensors generated by these sensors. These data, if properly explored, can be used to study and manage many coastal features and processes that are not well understood. As an example, we present the exploration of rip channels.

Protective Effects of Different Shapes of Ecological Rip-rap Bags Based on CFD-DPM Model [PDF]

open access: yes长江科学院院报
Curved slopes in natural river channels are highly susceptible to erosion, posing a significant challenge for river management. To address this issue, a comparative study was conducted on the protective effects of sand-and-gravel rip-rap bags of ...

New insights into combined surfzone, embayment, and estuarine bathing hazards [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences
Rip currents are the single largest cause of beach safety incidents globally, but where an estuary mouth intersects a beach, additional flows are created that can exceed the speed of a typical rip current, significantly increasing the hazard level for ...
