Downlink compressive channel estimation with support diagnosis in FDD massive MIMO

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2018
Downlink channel state information (CSI) is critical in a frequency division duplexing (FDD) massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. We exploit the reciprocity between uplink and downlink channels in angular domain and diagnose the supports

Infragravity rip current pulsations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The article of record as published may be located at http://dx.doi.org/10.1029/2003JC002068The origins of rip current pulsations within the infragravity frequency band (0.004–0.04 Hz) are determined from measurements made with arrays of colocated ...

Modeling Rip Current Systems around Multiple Submerged Breakwaters

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Multiple submerged breakwaters (MSBWs) are commonly used coastal protection structures due to their specific advantages over the emerged ones. Rip currents, as the inevitable natural hazard in the gaps of these constructions, are investigated numerically

Modeling the Impact of the Implementation of a Submerged Structure on Surf Zone Sandbar Dynamics

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2019
Coastal defense strategies based on structures are increasingly unpopular as they are costly, leave lasting scars on the landscape, and sometimes have limited effectiveness or even adverse impacts.

Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) in a Patient With Compound Heterozygous OPA1 Variants: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

A wave-resolving modeling study of rip current variability, rip hazard, and swimmer escape strategies on an embayed beach with irregular rip channels

open access: yes, 2023
Abstract. Drownings due to rip currents are a major threat to beach safety. In this study a high-resolution Boussinesq model with a modified wave-resolving Lagrangian tracking module has been applied to a 2-km-long embayed beach, Dadonghai of Sanya, Hainan Island, with the purpose to study rip current variability, real-time rip hazard identification ...

Dynamicity of multi-channel rip currents induced by rhythmic sandbars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Abstract. In response to frequent fatal beach drownings, China's first operational attempt on the rip current hazard investigation was made by the National Marine Hazard Mitigation Service (NMHMS). A great number of recreational beaches were found developing rip currents interlaced with rhythmic sandbars, varying by season and location evidenced by ...

Designing Polymer Nanocomposites for X‐Ray Shielding: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Scalable Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights advances in lightweight, lead‐free polymer nanocomposites for diagnostic X‐ray shielding. By linking filler chemistry, dispersion, architecture, and photon interaction mechanisms, it establishes structure–performance relationships guiding material design.

Electrified Damage in Motion Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The electrified damage in motion systems is a fundamental framework presenting the degradation pathway arising from the coupling of electrical energy transport with mechanical contact and interfacial chemistry. The framework positions electrified damage as a distinct degradation regime with unique characteristic surface morphologies and failures of ...
