Recognition of Building Structural Types Using Multisource Remote Sensing Data and Prior Knowledge

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Accurate identification of building structural types (BSTs) is essential for seismic vulnerability assessment and disaster risk management. Traditional field survey methods are constrained by high costs, low efficiency, and limited scalability.

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Spatiotemporal Analyses of High-Resolution Precipitation Ensemble Simulations in the Chinese Mainland Based on Quantile Mapping (QM) Bias Correction and Bayesian Model Averaging (BMA) Methods for CMIP6 Models

open access: yesAtmosphere
Fluctuations in precipitation usually affect the ecological environment and human socioeconomics through events such as floods and droughts, resulting in substantial economic losses. The high-resolution models in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Increasing Future Global Compound Heat Flash Droughts and Socioeconomic Exposure

open access: yesEarth's Future
Compound heat flash droughts (CHFDs) can severely impact human society. However, the spatiotemporal evolution and socioeconomic impacts under future scenarios remain poorly understood.

Nitrogen and Water Additions Affect N2O Dynamics in Temperate Steppe by Regulating Soil Matrix and Microbial Abundance

open access: yesAgriculture
Elucidating the effects of nitrogen and water addition on N2O dynamics is critical, as N2O is a key driver of climate change (including nitrogen deposition and shifting precipitation patterns) and stratospheric ozone depletion.

Corporate Governance, Opaque Bank Activities, and Risk/Return Efficiency: Pre- and Post-Crisis Evidence from Turkey [PDF]

open access: yes
Does better corporate governance unambiguously improve the risk/return efficiency of banks? Or does either a re-orientation of banks' revenue mix towards more opaque products, an economic downturn, or tighter supervision create off-setting or reinforcing

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...
