The Establishment and Verification of a Velocity Doppler Transfer Model for Dual-Beam Squint Airborne SAR

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Measuring ocean currents is essential for oceanographic studies, and dual-beam squint airborne SAR measurements provide significant advantages, including flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and extensive coverage.

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Regional Differences in the Direct and Indirect Impacts of China's Urbanization Process on Vegetation

open access: yesEarth and Space Science
Urbanization profoundly influences urban vegetation dynamics. Variations in development stages lead to differing direct (vegetation loss) and indirect (vegetation growth) impacts across old urban areas, new urban areas, and suburban, with unclear ...

Temperature and land use influence on spatiotemporal dynamics of particulate composition in Chinese Eastern Plain Lakes: a remote sensing-based study

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
The composition of particulate matter in lakes is considered a key indicator of underwater light-field dynamics and the proportion of organic matter. In this study, reflectance from Sentinel-3 OLCI (Ocean and Land Colour Instrument) imagery at 510, 560 ...

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Validation of death prediction after breast cancer relapses using joint models. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND: Cancer relapses may be useful to predict the risk of death. To take into account relapse information, the Landmark approach is popular. As an alternative, we propose the joint frailty model for a recurrent event and a terminal event to derive

Ocean Surface Wind Field Retrieval Simultaneously Using SAR Backscatter and Doppler Shift Measurements

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Sea surface wind retrieval methods using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) are generally classified into two categories: the direct inversion method and the variational analysis method (VAM).

Risk Prediction [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 2016
Articles, see p 1419 and p 1430 Population aging and improvements in survival after cardiovascular disease have contributed to worldwide increases in the number of patients with established cardiovascular disease. An almost epidemic number of people, >16 million Americans, suffering from ischemic heart disease serves as clear evidence of the ...

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Solving forced KdV equation using physics-informed neural networks

open access: yesGeoscience Letters
Physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) are applied to solve forced-KdV (fKdV) equations and to assess their capability for nonlinear wave dynamics under external forcing. We first validate the solver in analytically tractable forced-KdV benchmarks with
