RKIP: A Governor of Intracellular Signaling
Critical Reviews in Oncogenesis, 2014The Raf kinase inhibitor protein (RKIP) increasingly evolves as an important regulator of intracellular signaling networks and thus participates in diverse physiological functions ranging from growth and differentiation processes to muscle contraction.

Genetic and Epigenetic Control of RKIP Transcription
Critical Reviews in Oncogenesis, 2014Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) is known to modulate key signaling cascades and regulate normal physiological processes such as cellular proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. The expression of RKIP is found to be downregulated in several cancer metastases and the repressed RKIP expression can be reactivated on treatment with ...

Raf kinase inhibitor protein (RKIP) in cancer
Cancer and Metastasis Reviews, 2012Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) was initially identified as phosphatidylethanolamine binding protein in bovine brain. It was later identified as a protein that inhibits Raf kinase activation of MEK. Further exploration has revealed that RKIP modulates several other signaling pathways including NF-κB and G-protein signaling.

Resveratrol binds and activates RKIP protein in colorectal cancer
Amino Acids, 2020Raf-1 kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) acts as a tumor cell metastasis suppressor and prognostic indicator for survival in various cancers. Its use is predicted to improve therapy for various malignancies, including colorectal cancer (CRC). RKIP, frequently denoted as phosphatidylethanolamine-binding protein 1, is expressed in all normal mammalian ...

RKIP: Much more than Raf Kinase inhibitory protein
Journal of Cellular Physiology, 2013AbstractFrom its discovery as a phosphatidylethanolamine‐binding protein in bovine brain to its designation as a physiological inhibitor of Raf kinase protein, RKIP has emerged as a critical molecule for maintaining subdued, well‐orchestrated cellular responses to stimuli.

Structural basis for RKIP binding with its substrate Raf1 kinase
Biotechnology Letters, 2014Raf1 kinase inhibitor protein (RKIP) negatively regulates the Raf1/MEK/ERK pathway which is vital for cell growth and differentiation. It is also a biomarker in clinical cancer diagnosis. RKIP binds to the N-terminus of Raf1 kinase but little is known about the structural basis of RKIP binding with Raf1.

Cardiac RKIP induces a beneficial β-adrenoceptor–dependent positive inotropy
Nature Medicine, 2015In heart failure therapy, it is generally assumed that attempts to produce a long-term increase in cardiac contractile force are almost always accompanied by structural and functional damage. Here we show that modest overexpression of the Raf kinase inhibitor protein (RKIP), encoded by Pebp1 in mice, produces a well-tolerated, persistent increase in ...
