Robotic single-site versus multi-port myomectomy: a case–control study

open access: yesBMC Surgery, 2021
Background This study aimed to evaluate the compatibility of robotic single-site (RSS) myomectomy in comparison with the conventional robotic multi-port (RMP) myomectomy to achieve successful surgical outcomes with reliability and reproducibility ...

Comparative cytogenetic study in Muscidae flies

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
The chromosome modal number in Muscoidea Diptera is 2n = 12, including five pairs of autosomes and one sex chromosome pair. Nevertheless, some species with 2n = 10 chromosomes have been described, all of them from the Muscidae family.

Managing Risk of Bidding in Display Advertising

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we deal with the uncertainty of bidding for display advertising. Similar to the financial market trading, real-time bidding (RTB) based display advertising employs an auction mechanism to automate the impression level media buying; and ...

Histology and fossil diagenesis of a pterosaur tooth from the Crato Formation (Lower Cretaceous of Brazil)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Pterosaur dental biology remains poorly understood despite its importance for comprehending feeding strategies and flight adaptations. Here, we present the first comprehensive histological analysis of an ornithocheiriform pterosaur tooth from the Lower Cretaceous Crato Formation (Santana Group, Northeast Brazil).

Correlations among the plasma concentrations of first-line anti-tuberculosis drugs and the physiological parameters influencing concentrations

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2023
Background: The plasma concentrations of the four most commonly used first-line anti-tuberculosis (TB) drugs, isoniazid (INH), rifampicin (RMP), ethambutol (EMB), and pyrazinamide (PZA), are often not within the therapeutic range.

No Charging but Protection: Lifetime Prolongation of Spontaneously‐polarized Electrets for Energy Harvesting Applications

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A bilayer protection approach is proposed for slowing down the surface potential decay of thin films of spontaneously‐polarized electret materials. The electret and the protective films are characterized, and the protection effectiveness is investigated under the effects of light illumination, water contact and mechanical impact.

Are seizure forecasts and cycles better than chance? What chance?

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective There is a growing synergy between the lines of research on cycles in epilepsy and seizure forecasting. It has been conjectured, for instance, that incorporating information about significant seizure cycles into forecasting algorithms can lead to a better‐than‐chance forecasting performance.

Cardiac remodeling and arrhythmia in a mouse model of Depdc5 haploinsufficiency

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Some ion channel genes linked to developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE) are also linked to cardiac arrhythmia, leading to the hypothesis that predisposition to cardiac arrhythmias may contribute to the complex disease presentation of DEE and possibly to the mechanism of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.

Mutations in the rpoB gene of rifampicin-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains isolated in Brazil and France

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2001
We evaluated the mutations in a 193bp of the rpoB gene by automated sequencing of rifampicin (RMP)-resistant and susceptible Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains isolated from Brazil (25 strains) and France (37 strains). In RMP-resistant strains, mutations
