Chromosomal diversification in ribosomal DNA sites in Ancistrus Kner, 1854 (Loricariidae, Ancistrini) from three hydrographic basins of Mato Grosso, Brazil

open access: yesComparative Cytogenetics, 2011
Populations of seven Ancistrus species were analyzed from streams and rivers of three hydrographic Brazilian basins. All populations showed different diploid numbers (2n), fundamental numbers (FNs), and karyotypes.

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 4, Page 1061-1073, April 2026.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Overexpression of a natural chloroplast-encoded antisense RNA in tobacco destabilizes 5S rRNA and retards plant growth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background The roles of non-coding RNAs in regulating gene expression have been extensively studied in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, however few reports exist as to their roles in organellar gene regulation.

Targeting WTAP/ROR1/WNT5A‐Mediated Crosstalk Between Glioma Stem Cells and Macrophages to Normalize Tumor Vasculature and Enhance Chemotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 21, 13 April 2026.
In hypoxic microenvironment, WNT5A is predominantly secreted by tumor‐associated macrophages. Hypoxia‐induced WTAP mediates ROR1 stability by m6A modifications in a HuR‐dependent manner in Glioma stem cells (GSCs). WNT5A activates the WNT pathway via ROR1 binding on GSCs, driving glioma‐derived endothelial cells (GDECs) differentiation.

Extraction of total RNA from single-oocytes and single-cell mRNA sequencing of swine oocytes

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2018
Objective Analyses of single oocytes are essential for a fine dissection of molecular features governing developmental competence. We adapted the phenol–chloroform procedure for the purification of total RNA from single oocytes. Results Key modifications

Isolation of high quality RNA from soil-grown Ilex paraguariensis roots suitable for next-generation sequencing and gene expression analyses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Extraction of high quality RNA is a prerequisite for downstream application in functional genomics analyses. However, the extraction and purification of pure nucleic acids from root tissues is generally difficult due to the high concentration of ...

Demographic History and Genetic Diversity of Rātā Moehau (Metrosideros bartlettii; Myrtaceae), a Critically Endangered Aotearoa New Zealand Endemic Tree

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Rātā Moehau (Metrosideros bartlettii), a critically endangered tree endemic to Aotearoa New Zealand, is represented by only 14 wild individuals. We assembled its first genome, analysed genetic diversity in wild and cultivated individuals and found long‐term population decline and reduced diversity in cultivated plants—providing key insights to support ...

Plate tectonics in the microscopy realm: Molecular insights into morphological variability of Peridinium willei (Peridiniales, Dinophyceae)

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract Freshwater Peridinium willei (Peridiniaceae) is globally distributed, but reports linking its morphologies with DNA sequence data remain scarce. The taxonomy of the species, and its infraspecific taxa, remain ambiguous due to the lack of DNA sequence data for the original and type material.

Repeated reunions and splits feature the highly dynamic evolution of 5S and 35S ribosomal RNA genes (rDNA) in the Asteraceae family

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2010
Background In flowering plants and animals the most common ribosomal RNA genes (rDNA) organisation is that in which 35S (encoding 18S-5.8S-26S rRNA) and 5S genes are physically separated occupying different chromosomal loci.

Exploration of RNA structure spaces [PDF]

open access: yes
In order to understand the structure of real structure spaces, we are studying the 5S rRNA structure space experimentally. A plasmid containing a synthetic 5S rRNA gene, two rRNA promoters, and transcription terminators has been assembled.
