Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Excited States of Proton-bound DNA/RNA Base Homo-dimers: Pyrimidines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We are presenting the electronic photo fragment spectra of the protonated pyrimidine DNA bases homo-dimers. Only the thymine dimer exhibits a well structured vibrational progression, while protonated monomer shows broad vibrational bands. This shows that

Prebiotic chiral transfer from self-aminoacylating ribozymes may favor either handedness

open access: yesNature Communications
Modern life is essentially homochiral, containing D-sugars in nucleic acid backbones and L-amino acids in proteins. Since coded proteins are theorized to have developed from a prebiotic RNA World, the homochirality of L-amino acids observed in all known ...

The first mitochondrial genome for the subfamily Asopinae (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) and its phylogenetic implications

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2017
Here, we determined the complete mitogenome of Picromerus griseus, the first for the subfamily Asopinae. This mitochondrial genome contains 16,338 bp, with an A + T content of 71.69%, and contains 37 typical mitochondrial genes (13 protein-coding genes ...

Charging State Analysis of Transfer RNA from an α-proteobacterium

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2020
Transfer RNA (tRNA) is an essential link between the genetic code and proteins. During the process of translation, tRNA is charged with its cognate amino acid and delivers it to the ribosome, thus serving as a substrate of protein synthesis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Complete chloroplast genome sequence of Chrysosplenium ramosum and Chrysosplenium alternifolium (Saxifragaceae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
The complete chloroplast genome of Chrysosplenium ramosum Maxim. and Chrysosplenium alternifolium L. were reported in this study. The chloroplast genomes were 153,460 bp for C. ramosum and 152,619 bp for C. alternifolium.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Introduction and Expression of a Rabbit β-globin Gene in Mouse Fibroblasts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
The cloned chromosomal rabbit ß-globin gene has been introduced into mouse fibroblasts by DNA-mediated gene transfer (transformation). In this report, we examine the expression of the rabbit gene in six independent transformants that contain from 1 to 20
