SUMMARYRNA interference mediated via the action of micro RNAs (miRNAs) plays a pivotal role in developmental and stress response pathways. In the nucleus, plant miRNAs are generated by subsequent enzymatic cuts of the MIRNA precursors, having specific hairpin‐like secondary structures, to liberate the miRNA/miRNA* duplex.

The 5′-end heterogeneity of adenovirus virus-associated RNAI contributes to the asymmetric guide strand incorporation into the RNA-induced silencing complex [PDF]
Human Adenovirus type 5 encodes two short RNA polymerase III transcripts, the virus-associated (VA) RNAI and VA RNAII, which can adopt stable hairpin structures that resemble micro-RNA precursors.

RISC in Development; A Review on RNA Induced Silencing Complex and its Contribution to Cellular Differentiation [PDF]
Messenger RNAs may be targeted by short 19-27 nt RNAs generally called Small none-coding RNAs (snRNAs), the role of miRNAs among other snRNAs has been more studied and is well known. Many researches show that all compartments of RISC, Proteins and miRNAs

Inhibiting MicroRNA function globally to target cancer: an emerging new scenario [PDF]
MicroRNA (miRNA) is an important class of small non-coding RNAs that act as post-transcriptional modulators of gene expression, and whose dysregulation has been implicated in various stages of cancer development. Although promising experimental evidences

CCR4-NOT Deadenylates mRNA Associated with RNA-Induced Silencing Complexes in Human Cells [PDF]
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) repress gene expression posttranscriptionally by inhibiting translation and by expediting deadenylation so as to trigger rapid mRNA decay. Their regulatory influence is mediated by the protein components of the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which deliver miRNAs and siRNAs to their mRNA targets.
