Investigating the links between the nuclear RNA exosome and RNA export in fission yeast [PDF]
Production of the correct amount of functional RNA molecules is vital for cell survival. This can be achieved at different times during the life of an RNA molecule, starting with RNA synthesis and ending at RNA degradation, whilst passing through ...

The proposed mechanism of action for the CDK12/13 inhibitor and cyclin K degrader, CT7439. CDK12/13 inhibition interrupts transcription elongation, leading to increased DNA damage that results in cell death. This agent is a potentially novel treatment option for patients with colorectal cancer. Created in BioRender. Cyclin‐dependent kinase (CDK) 12 and

Degradation of Myxovirus Virion RNA by Periodate
Extensively degraded RNA was isolated from virions of influenza virus which had been oxidized with sodium m-periodate. Similarly, although to a lesser extent, RNA isolated from periodate-treated ribonucleoprotein of influenza virus was also degraded.

Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).

RNA Degradation in Yeast and Human Mitochondria
RNA turnover in yeast mitochondria is controlled by the complex called degradosome, which consists of two nuclear-encoded proteins: the SUV3 gene codes for an RNA helicase and the DSS1 gene codes for an RNase. In contrast to yeast, much less is known about RNA degradation in human mitochondria. We suggest that the key enzyme involved in this process is

Influence of viral genes on the cell-to-cell spread of RNA silencing [PDF]
The turnip crinkle virus-based vector TCV–GFPDCP had been devised previously to study cell-to-cell and long-distance spread of virus-induced RNA silencing.

Inhibition of the foot-and-mouth disease virus subgenomic replicon by RNA aptamers. [PDF]
We have previously documented the inhibitory activity of RNA aptamers to the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase of foot-and-mouth disease virus (3D(pol)). Here we report their modification and use with a subgenomic replicon incorporating GFP (pGFP-PAC replicon)

This review summarizes the transcription factors, repressive chromatin‐modifying complexes, and epigenetic mechanisms that control fetal hemoglobin repression. Notably, many regulators of γ‐globin silencing also function in transcriptional and epigenetic networks that drive cancer, highlighting opportunities to translate advances in hemoglobinopathy ...

Regulation of RNA processing and degradation in bacteria
Messenger RNA processing and decay is a key mechanism to control gene expression at the post-transcriptional level in response to ever-changing environmental conditions. In this review chapter, we discuss the main ribonucleases involved in these processes in bacteria, with a particular but non-exclusive emphasis on the two best-studied paradigms of ...
