The RNA Helicase DDX6 Controls Cellular Plasticity by Modulating P-Body Homeostasis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Post-transcriptional mechanisms have the potential to influence complex changes in gene expression, yet their role in cell fate transitions remains largely unexplored.

Topology and Regulation of the Human eIF4A/4G/4H Helicase Complex in Translation Initiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
SummaryThe RNA helicase eIF4A plays a key role in unwinding of mRNA and scanning during translation initiation. Free eIF4A is a poor helicase and requires the accessory proteins eIF4G and eIF4H.

Primase-polymerases are a functionally diverse superfamily of replication and repair enzymes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Until relatively recently, DNA primases were viewed simply as a class of proteins that synthesize short RNA primers requisite for the initiation of DNA replication.

The Human RNA Helicase DDX21 Presents a Dimerization Interface Necessary for Helicase Activity

open access: yesiScience, 2020
Summary: Members of the DEAD-box helicase family are involved in all fundamental processes of RNA metabolism, and as such, their malfunction is associated with various diseases.

Biochemical Characterization of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus Helicase

open access: yesmSphere, 2016
Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) helicase is a superfamily 1 helicase containing seven conserved motifs. We have cloned, expressed, and purified a Strep-fused recombinant MERS-CoV nonstructural protein 13 (M-nsp13) helicase ...

DbpA is a region‐specific RNA helicase [PDF]

open access: yesBiopolymers, 2016
AbstractDbpA is a DEAD‐box RNA helicase implicated in RNA structural rearrangements in the peptidyl transferase center. DbpA contains an RNA binding domain, responsible for tight binding of DbpA to hairpin 92 of 23S ribosomal RNA, and a RecA‐like catalytic core responsible for double‐helix unwinding. It is not known if DbpA unwinds only the RNA helices

Transcription as a Threat to Genome Integrity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Genomes undergo different types of sporadic alterations, including DNA damage, point mutations, and genome rearrangements, that constitute the basis for evolution.

Helicase Assays

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2014
Helicases are a class of enzymes which are motor proteins using energy derived from ATP hydrolysis to move directionally along a nucliec acid phosphodiester backbone (such as DNA, RNA and DNA-RNA hybrids) and separate two annealed nucleic acid strands ...

Tumor clusters with divergent inflammation and human retroelement expression determine the clinical outcome of patients with serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of treatment‐naïve high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and control tissues for ERVs, LINE‐1 (L1), inflammation, and immune checkpoints identified five clusters with diverse patient recurrence‐free survivals. An inflammation score was calculated and correlated with retroelement expression, where one novel cluster (Triple‐I) with high ...

Conformational Change in a Four‐Tetrad DNA G‐Quadruplex upon Intercalation of a Small‐Molecule Ligand PyDH2

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An exception or the rule? This work represents a second observation, and the first crystallographic evidence, of true intercalation of a small‐molecule ligand (here, bisquinolinium PyDH2) into an antiparallel G‐quadruplex (G4) DNA fold. Abstract G‐quadruplexes (G4s) are non‐canonical DNA structures implicated in a number of biological processes.
